Hawaii Travel Unaffected By Tsunami and Radiation from Japan

All Hawaiianbeachrentals.com vacation rentals have been unaffected by the tsunami and continue to host visitors at their properties around the state.

Although some areas of Hawaii were affected by the March 11, 2011 Japan earthquake and resulting tsunami, damages throughout the state have been reported as minimal, and there has been no news of death or injury caused by the tsunami. Airports and golf courses throughout the islands have remained open, as have the majority of businesses and hotels.

Obama states, “I want to be very clear. We do not expect harmful levels of radiation to reach…Hawaii.”

Local officials as well as President Obama have quieted lingering concerns over radiation levels, stating that no harmful amounts of radiation have been detected in the islands, and none are expected to reach Hawaii. The jet stream that moves from Japan across the Pacific is generally north of the islands, and only dips down to Hawaii periodically in the wintertime. As Hawaii is already out of winter and into spring, it is unlikely that the jet stream will come south in the days ahead. On the off chance it does, officials have assured residents and visitors that the radiation will have dissipated in the time it takes to travel from Japan to Hawaii, bringing miniscule or undetectable amounts of radiation, none of which would be significant enough to cause concern or alter travel plans to Hawaii.
