Location, location, location! The location of Poipu Palms 204 was ideal for me and my son. Surfing at Shipwrecks just down the street and swimming & snorkeling at Poipu Beach was so close. Being in Poipu we could travel both directions on the island with great ease. We drove to Polihale to Ke'e Beach looking for surf, sand and food! The view were magnificent. From our panoramic ocean view deck we saw turtles swimming every day. We saw pods of dolphins jumping in unison across the ocean out front. We had numerous sitings of whales, spouting for air and jumping with their tales splashing. The best part of my trip was being with my family. My son here at the condo and my daughter and son-in-law who live in Kapaa. Our trip on the raft boat thru the Napali Coast. What a ride!! What a view!! We even saw whales!! My favorite photo is of my kids by a tree in Polihale. Many years ago when they were young teenagers, we took a photo of them at the same tree. Now, as adults I am going to hang this photo along side the old photo. I've already told my friends and family about this wonderful condo. This is my 10th trip to Kauai. I've stayed at The Princeville Hotel, The Grand Hyatt twice, Sheraton twice, The Westin, and a couple of condos. This by far has been the best trip. We could rinse off our feet outside at the "footwash". We could lay the surfboard on the tile in the entrance hall. The view was outstanding, the accomodations were beautifully tropical yet comfortable. It was so convenient to be able to eat out if we wanted or to cook if we wanted. Restaurants were great. I loved my dinner at Roy's in Poipu and Dondero's at the Grand Hyatt Hotel, but I also loved my dinner at the Korean BBQ at Kinnopopo Shopping Village in Kapaa. I loved eating sandwiches on the beach from the deli under Brennekes and breakfast at Joe's on the Green and the Olympic Cafe. Eat at all the "local" eateries. You will be treated with all the aloha spirit you can imagine. I ate Spam Musubi everywhere I could find it. I had a blast. On my next trip I am going to bring a better camera with a telephoto lens so I can get great photos of my son surfing at every beach on the island. Thank you for a great trip! Mona Kelly We loved being in a corner unit on the 2nd floor- easy to come and go. It was very quiet, and the unit was very clean. The covered deck was nice to sit on in the shade and get into a book. We were there around Valentine's Day and the Humpback whales were spectacular. We watched them right from the deck and saw more of them, closer up than we did on our Napali cruise. The Honu we're also eating along the rocks in front of the complex. We had lunch at Keiko's at Poipu and enjoyed the oulled pork sandwich and the cobb salad- very tasty. We would advise several things to do. The Napali Cruise by Blue Dolphin- the coast was beautful in all it's fury, the Humpbacks were out as were the Spinner dolphins, and we saw a rare Monk seal play with a Puffer fish-we've never been dissapointed. The Allerton Garden tour- wow, what a cool place. The Waimea Canyon, another really interesting place- although next time we'll take the road all the way to the end. We'd recommend Tunnels and the North Shore at any other time of year- the seas were really rough- much gentler and more enjoyable in other seasons- unless you're a surfer fan- then go for it. The only negative things we might say were that the pool was too cold to really enjoy, and don't rent a Mustang convertable (not worth it- too hot to have the top down, and too wide of a car for some of the narrow Waimea roads). Wonderful Experience. The views were magnificant. The owners thought of everything. If we get the chance to come back, we would definately stay at Poipu Palms 204 again. Aloha |
