Things to Do
Princeville is well-known for world-class golf that beckons all levels of golfers seeking to experience rounds amidst views of mountains, the sea, and seemingly endless natural greenery. Guests of our
Princeville rental homes can play at the Prince Golf Club and the Makai Golf Club (reopened in 2010 after extensive renovation), with the Makai 18 and the Woods 9. The Prince Golf Course is the site to which endangered birds flock, including the 'Alae (Hawaiian gallinule), the 'Alae ke'o ke'o (Hawaiian coot) and the 'Ae'o (Hawaiian Stilt). Opae, fresh water shrimp, have also made a home in the course's streams.
The North Shore extends unique opportunities for ziplining, kayaking, and hiking on 2,500 acres of private lands, through guided tours to areas that are inaccessible to the public. Just within 10 miles from Princeville are nearby Hanalei town and crescent-shaped Hanalei Bay, Napali Coast, Haena State Park and Ke'e Beach, and the Kilauea Point National Wildlife Refuge. Beaches in Princeville include Pu'u Poa (thumping point), Kenomene Beach, and Kaweonui Beach, all good for swimming and snorkeling (watch for the rip currents to ensure safety). The Queen's Bath is a swimming area that offers experience in the journey and upon arrival. Closed in the winter for everyone's safety, it is a natural pool with sea air, views, and small fish. No facilities are available, however, and parking is very limited.
Eat and Shop
Steak, seafood, Mexican food, pizza, plate lunches, local beef burgers, ice cream, and shaved ice are all available at the Princeville Center, which houses a variety of shops and restaurants. Live music, surreal sunsets, tropical cocktails, and seaside dinners are part of the intimate and quiet nightlife at Princeville Resort St. Regis hotel's lounge and restaurants. Hand-crafted soaps and candles, paintings, photography, fine and locally-crafted jewelry, island apparel, and sport equipment are some of the notable items that make retail shopping at the Princeville Center a simple, one-stop visit. Also on-site: a hardware store, gas station, post office, banking, yoga, and grocery store.
