Green sea turtles are often seen at Kahaluu Beach which is somewhat protected from the open sea by a fringing coral reef, creating good swimming and snorkeling conditions while surfers enjoy the waves beyond the reef. To the south is Kealakekua Bay known for its resident spinner dolphins.
