Very close to Wainiha are pristine beaches including great snorkeling and picturesque scenery at Kee Beach as well as Tunnels, also known as Makua Beach. Toward Hanalei town is the expansive Lumahai Beach, and then there is the crescent-shaped Hanalei Bay where kayaking, stand up paddleboarding and surfing are very popular.

A popular attraction close to Wainiha is Limahuli Garden and Preserve where you can take a self-guided tour of native species in a verdant, tropical valley and see the restored terraces of taro, an important food crop to the Hawaiians in ancient times.

Eat and Shop

Shopping and dining is somewhat limited in Wainiha as you are near the end of the road on Kauai's remote north shore. There is a small convenience store, a couple of gift shops and a restaurant. During the day you can find a food truck at Kee Beach.

The good news when it comes to eating and shopping is that Hanalei town is just a short, scenic drive away with lots of interesting shops and great restaurants as well as a grocery store. Just up the hill from Hanalei is the Princeville Resort which also has plenty of restaurants to choose from as well as boutique shops and a supermarket.
