Visit Mokuleia Beach Park for a relaxing morning and then head over to Waimea Valley to explore the park's botanical gardens and swim beneath Waimea Falls. Horseback riding excursions are available and there are also some nice mountain biking trails. Take a drive along the north shore to see the famed surfing beaches of Waimea Bay, Banzai Pipeline and Sunset Beach. At nearby Dillingham Airfield you can go skydiving or take a ride in a glider.<br></p><p><br></p><p><b>Nearby Beaches</b><br>Mokuleia Beach Park is a long, white sand beach with restrooms but no lifeguards. The beach's shallow reef area can be good for snorkeling when the water is calm, though winter can bring large swells and strong rip currents that make swimming dangerous. Windsurfers and kitesurfers frequent Mokuleia Beach, especially when the winds are coming from the south (Kona winds). Grassy areas and picnic tables make this a lovely place to enjoy a morning on the north shore. If you are driving out to Kaena Point this beach park is a nice place to stop as it's the only beach park with facilities between Waialua and Kaena Point. More great beaches can be found all along the north shore including the world-famous surfing beaches of Waimea Bay, Sunset Beach and Banzai Pipeline where major surfing contests are held during the winter months.
