Maui Swap Meet

This weekly Saturday morning market pops up next to the campus of our centrally located college in the town of Kahului. Dozens of vendors set up their art and craft work in outdoor stalls side by side with produce, flower, and import vendors. It is the best concentration of easy shopping that you will find on island, plus the variety of merchandise and pricing cannot be beat.

The Swap Meet on Maui has grown over the decades from what was once a combination garage sale and crafts fair, into what is now a thriving outdoor shopping experience. Dozens of vendors attend each week, and for many artisans this is their main venue for sharing their work. Along with many forms of art and handicrafts, there is also lots of clothing, souvenirs, and unique gift items. Food and refreshment vendors are set up throughout the market offering snacks, fresh juices, and plate lunches. Views of the green mountains fill the backgrounds and ocean breezes blow from the sea 100 yards away, making for a beautiful shopping environment.

The parking for this event is free and there is lots of it. A huge reserved parking area right in front of the gate is available for those with a handicap parking placard, in addition the pathways through the market are paved and wheel chair accessible.

Whether shopping for that unique person on your gift list, or giving yourself some great Maui souvenirs, you will be easily satisfied by the multitude of options at this unique outdoor event.

Directions:
From Queen Ka'ahamanu Avenue in Kahului, turn onto Kahului Beach Road at the traffic light intersection adjacent to the large mall, and get in the left lane. At the first traffic light turn left onto Wahinepio Avenue. In 100 yards, turn left into the Maui Community College Parking Lot. Look for parking. Entrance to market is on the eastern edge of the lot.
