About Moloaa Vacation Rentals
Our Moloaa vacation rentals offer luxury and relaxation on the Garden Island's scenic northeast shore. With close access to immaculate and uncrowded beaches, scenic mountain views and balmy tradewind weather, Moloaa is the ideal destination for the
perfect Kauai vacation.
Things To Do
Snorkeling can be exceptional in Moloaa Bay when ocean conditions are calm. However, if it is windy or there is surf or strong currents, particularly during the winter months, you should enjoy this beach only from the shore. This is the beach where they shot the TV pilot for Gilligan's Island (remember the shipwreck of the USS Minnow?). From Moloaa Beach a short trail leads to Larsen's Beach making for a fun beach walk.
For more great beaches drive up to
Kilauea town where Secret Beach offers an immaculate stretch of sand beneath ocean bluffs with views of the Kilauea Lighthouse perched up on the cliffs. Visit the Lighthouse to see native seabirds and enjoy the view of Secret Beach below.
Follow the road from Kilauea along the north shore to the crescent-shaped Hanalei Bay which is a mecca of watersports and a great place to take a surfing or stand up paddle boarding lesson. You can also rent a kayak and explore the Hanalei River and paddle along the bay shoreline.
Eat and Shop
Close to Moloaa is Anahola town where there is a convenience store as well as the renowned
Duane's Ono Burger which serves up a tasty teriyaki burger with an Island flare. Kilauea town is just a short drive north from Moloaa and offers a variety of places to eat as well as upscale boutique shopping. More shopping and dining choices can be found along the north shore at the
Princeville Resort and in
Hanalei town.
Heading south from Moloaa brings you to Kapaa town where you can choose from dozens of restaurants and browse through the many interesting shops and art galleries. Live entertainment is often provided to accompany your meal.
Getting Around
A rental car is recommended when staying in Moloaa vacation rentals so you have easy access to the area's great beaches as well as the nearby towns from Kilauea, Princeville and Hanalei to
Kapaa and
LihueSecluded Moloaa Bay is located on the northeast corner of beautiful Kauai. This pristine white sand beach served as a location for the pilot of the well known show Gilligans Island. Despite this history, Moloaa has remained relatively unknown by visitors and even locals from outer islands. Truly off the beaten path, Moloaa is a great place to runaway and enjoy all the pleasant views Kauai has to offer.
