About West Molokai Condo Rentals
Our West Molokai condos offer comfort and luxury in one of Hawaii's most tranquil and scenic vacation destinations. Molokai is a largely undeveloped island that retains its pristine beauty including great beaches and stunning Island vistas.
Things To Do
The west coast Molokai beaches of Papohaku and Dixie Maru are both great places to view the sunset. Dixie Maru Beach (also called Kapukahehu) has a sheltered cove that is nice for swimming when the ocean conditions are calm. Papohaku is also known as Three Mile Beach referring to its exceptional size which makes it ideal for long, leisurely beach walks.
The western end of Molokai, which faces the Kaiwi Channel, is also the site of the annual (October) Molokai Hoe outrigger canoe race which begins at Molokai's Hale O Lono Harbor and ends in Waikiki.
The Nature Conservancy leads monthly hikes in northwest Molokai at the Moomomi Nature Preserve which has unique sand dune ecosystems and native birds habitat. At the historic Meyer Sugar Mill in central Molokai you can visit the Molokai Museum & Cultural Center with a restored mill, mule-powered cane crusher, a 100-year-old steam engine and other artifacts. The site also frequently hosts events such as wine tastings and music festivals. Nearby to the museum is the Ironwood Hills Golf Course at an elevation of 1,200 feet.
At Kalaupapa National Historic Park on the northern shore you can take a mule-ride down to the settlement where Hansen's disease patients were ministered to by Father Damien, now Saint Damien. Kalaupapa can also be viewed from Palaau State Park (at the end of Hwy. 470) where you can hike along the cliffs through pine wood forests and enjoy the views.
Eat and Shop
You will find some unique shopping opportunities in the town of Maunaloa including a kite shop and art gallery. The Maunaloa General Store sells grocery items as well as sandwiches and everything you will need for your Molokai adventures.
Drive over to Molokai's main town of Kaunakakai for a range of dining and shopping choices including welcoming, family-run restaurants and stores where you can sample some fine local cuisine and find unique Hawaii gifts.
Getting Around
A rental car is recommended when staying in West Molokai condos so you can explore the region's scenic beaches as well as the island's other sites and attractions from the Kalaupapa peninsula to Kaunakakai
