Within 10 miles of a Ko Olina luxury rental, you'll find places to surf plus four man-made lagoons that offer beach time with all the facilities so take advantage of one, Kolola, Hanu, Naia or Ulua. Nearby Kapolei also has beach areas for surfing and swimming. Carve out a day for an off-road hummer tour, an exotically exciting way to see the island.

Diamond Head and the major sights of Waikiki are under an hour away and while in Ko Olina, take advantage of some additional experiences, including waterfall walks, scenic drives and more. Many guided tours are available so leave the planning to someone else for the day. Golf and resort spa treatments are also accessible in Ko Olina, which are a great way to see and live like someone genuinely on vacation. Have a picnic on the beach by day or at sunset, complete with a gourmet meal packed just for two. The Hawaiian Railway is less than 10 miles from Ko Olina, another neat activity to which you can add a personal picnic.

Ko Olina is home to one of the handful of Roy's Restaurants on the islands, so set aside a night (or more) for the ultimate Hawaiian fusion dining experience. The resort area eateries are places in which eating sushi or Japanese food or even appetizers and drinks are all significant dining events.

Shopping at the boutiques and art studios will be fascinating and less than 11 miles away is a shopper's paradise, Waikiki Premium Outlets, with high-end designers including Michael Kors and Armani. You'll also find all the basics if you need anything during your stay, but between the nifty tobacco shops, jewelry stores, nurseries and garden centers, it will be a real feat to not buy everything to take back home. The key to shopping in Ko Olina is to explore as much as you like, talk with local residents and have a good time. Afterwards, select some things you can't live without and then pack them in your bag or arrange to ship them home.
