To the north along the Kohala Coast is the picturesque Hapuna Beach which is the Big Island's biggest white-sand beach and also great for picnics with facilities and lifeguards.<br>In Hilo a nice family beach is Onekahakaha Beach Park with a sandy bottom and shallow waters near shore making it good for children.
