Kona Lava Beach House

The Kona Lava Beach House was everything it looked like it would be. Absolutely perfect location, Beautiful setting, The home was warm and very inviting, My wife and I stayed there for 9 days and loved every moment of it. Beautiful sunsets, seeing dolphins and whales from the deck. Just perfect.

Charles W., Gem Lake, MN, 2.1.12

Kona Lava Beach House

As often said in the real estate world, "location, location, location!". That explains the best attribute of this house. What could be better than watching whales and spinner dolphins entertain as you have breakfast on the lanai? The shops and restaurants of Kailua Kona are just a few blocks away. It's a little tricky getting out of the driveway onto busy Alii Drive, but drivers were usually gracious enough to let you out. Greeter Mike was attentive to our needs; brought new propane tank for grill so we wouldn't run out & suggested restaurants to try. (Lava Java was very "Ono!") Loved sitting in the hot tub each evening sipping wine! To address previous reviews, yes, the house is victim to the ravages of sea air. How could it not be? It hangs out on the ocean. Loved our stay at Kona Beach House!

Hibiscus

What we liked best about the Hibiscus, or Blue Water as the owner calls it, was definitely the VIEW. This has certainly the best view in Kona and perhaps on the whole west coast of the island. The property is ocean-front on a slant that allows views out and to the north, clear of any other close property. The lanai has plenty of teak patio chairs, lounges and tables, and we enjoyed watching the crashing waves and the cruise ships which dropped anchor close by. You are close to a very nice public beach reached by walking the low seawall framing the ocean-side. This was both a plus and a minus; you are in a gated, patrolled neighborhood but the seawall is a public access "highway"; however, we had no problems and once we got over the initial surprise of seeing strangers so close to the house, it was fine. The pool was the only disappointment; despite sunny weather, it was quite cool and needed cleaning so we never used it. The hot tub was fine. Someone should pull the weeds growing out of the rock around the hot tub & parts of the pool edge; otherwise these will eventually break the rocks apart. There were a few minor things that needed fixing upon arrival (loose toilet seat/broken closet door) but the manager fixed them promptly and we felt he would attend to the major ones later (no stoppers in the master bedroom sinks-just the pipe holes/broken luggage rack). The kitchen was well-stocked, and the outside grill worked well. The house is very modern with many stair steps; probably won't work well for the elderly nor for families with very young children as floor & furniture surfaces are very hard. The glass doors can be completely opened up ocean-side which was very pleasant. The entryway is comprised of large stone squares surrounded by water and a waterfall; the waterfall sound was pleasant but it needs the white salt cleaned, the plantings need some attention and the pond needs more stones to cover the bottom & the tubing. There was a major problem with the stone-paved circle drive but it appeared to be severely broken from a large tree recently(?) lost in the center and will be a major expense to repair. All in all, we took a point off for some maintenance, but the 5-star view will enchant you!

12 Alii Point

Very nice, well maintained home, right on the beach and close to down town Kona. The only thing it lacked was its own pool; that was not a problem for us, there is a very nice community pool.

Kona Lava Beach House

We had an absolutely wonderful time at the Kona Lava Beach House. The only thing that would have made it better was a longer stay! The owners have great amenities....even down to binoculars which we used ever morning to watch dolphins and a whale while sipping our Kona coffee on the master bedroom balcony....it just doesn't get any better than that! It was a perfect home and we appreciated the owners renting it out, mahalo! Michael was great at showing us the ins and outs of the house, he even made sure we had a crib and highchair for our granddaughter (this even included freshly laundered baby blankets and sheets!) The house is the perfect distance from town to walk. Make sure you talk with the local people, networking is huge here, so ask....they have great suggestions and we saved lots of money by connections, everything from 20% two different meals at resturants to 20% off a tour! The local people could not have treated us nicer! There were a total of 8 in our family with us and the house was large enough...no rubbing elbows. Out best suggestion would be, don't over pack! I took 3 light jackets and didn't use one! There is a Walmart and Kmart near by for anything you might want or need. We did a lot and would not have changed a thing...some "musts" in our book would be snorkeling with the dolphins at Captain Cook Bay, night Manta Ray snorkle trip and the Royal Kona Resort Luau. We didn't do the volcano this trip because it wasn't active...next time! Yes we are going back...it was that great! Lastly, to share how blessed we were...yesterday we woke up to the lulling sound of the crashing waves out our windows and this morning we woke up to 4" of fresh snow out our window...we must be back home in Wyoming...only 364 days and counting till we go back....Aloha!

Beautiful house, would stay there again

The Kona View House

Beautiful view.... Very good customer service... Discovering the different beaches...zip lining up north.... We enjoyed Sam Choy's, Merriman's, The Broadway or something in Hilo... Our family in the empty pool behind the house....expected more from that pool.... We were warm in the sunshine and wet in the fabulous beaches.... Request that the unit have a few more cooking utensils, bring WD-40 for all the doors that need derusting.... Do the zip lining at the eco zip line that just started in Sept....very good! Can't think of an insider tip that we received.... Walking down to the bottom of the valley up north....only had time to go down half way.... Was really nice to have the washer and dryer....

Shelley A., Kirkland, WA, 12.21.11

Kahle Ohana

The house was very clean The customer service was good they answered the question that I had Celebrating my mothers birthday at the luau We only went to one restaurant while we were there The luau with my family and the dancers The black sand beach and waterfalls Bring your spices that you use at your house If your going to cook buy your food at walmart Visit more waterfalls and other beaches The house was great, but I would like to have a curtain in the master bedroom for more privacy.

Kona Lava Beach House

Excellent view, customer service and location from town.

Phil T., San Clemente, CA, 12.3.11

The Kona View House

What I liked best about the unit I rented was the view. The customer service I received was excellent. The best part of my trip was hiking the volcano trail. The best restaurant I found was the Big Island Grill which was near the rental. The best picture I took of us was in the volcano trail. I can't wait to tell all my friends about the volcano hike. My advice to someone else staying at this unit would be to make good use of the spa at sunset. The part of my trip I would definitely recommend to others is the rental and the volcano hike. The best insider tip I received on my trip was to be prepared for the long drives and have ample water and food in case of any car mishaps because there's a lot of empty roads. I didn't have time this trip, but the next trip I'm looking forward to visiting a poniolo ranch and the norther part of Hawaii to have steak and burgers.

Tina T., Los Angeles, CA, 11.27.11

Hibiscus Hale

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Hawaii and the home - Hibiscus Hale. The house was in a very convenient location and very pleasant. Very well equiped and comfortable. We ventured out daily covering most of the island and were so pleased with the week.

Hale Aloha-Bali Kai 201

Nice spacious unit. This Condo is ON THE WATER just 75 feet off the balcony. Older tube TV with DVD in LR. Boogie boards & snorkel equipment for 2. Beautiful view of rocky beach & ocean out lani doors. Sound of Ocean lulls you to sleep at night, Beach is known for surfing and Surfers are fun to watch. Good parking on first floor of condo complex. Exterior of complex is dated but inside of unit is very modern. Security is there all night. There is a small public access beach right next to this complex. Convenience store right across the street for last minute essentials & liquor. Close to shopping & restaurants downtown. When going to market & downtown, look for free parking not the public $10 lot on Alii street next to market. Listen to Allen the concierge, he will steer you to the best activities.

Roger R., Hatfield, PA, 10.23.11

Hale Aikane - Private Home off IO Place

We had an excellent time staying at this property, the house is perfectly presented and the veiws are amazing a great place to watch the sunset over the water and the lights of Kona, the house has all that you could want
We visited the Hawaii Volcanes & the Manuna Kea Summit, all were fantastic. One highlight of our trip was snorkling with the turtles in a small bay north of a marina, that for the moment I cant remember the name of, but if you asked a local the will tell you, it was a suprise how many there were and you didnt need to snorkle as they were feeding so close to the shore. We didnt eat out often as we enjoyed entertaining at home but we did have a fun lunch at Bubba Gumps - be careful the desserts are huge, best to share with a friend ....Mahola and enjoy..Diane from Sydney Australia

Hale Honu - Surf Racquet 37

Clean, neatly kept and responsive rental owners. The location is very central and easily accessible. Walking distance to the beach.
My other rental owner only communicated by text message. These guys actually picked up the phone. Big difference when you need something, since condos are not standardized like a hotel. They also had a folder with things to do that was neatly organized. It was good to flip through.

Two things I would ask the owners to consider:
1. Providing for some "faster" ceiling fans, since the ones in the master bedroom were pretty slow. Or they could provide a pedestal fan that guests could position where they liked, since the ceilings are a bit low and a faster fan could raise a liability issue.
2. Some beach gear like boogie boards, swim noodles, fins and other snorkel gear would be great. Additionally, another rental I visited even had tennis racquets and balls.

One thing that guests must know: The unit's master bedroom opens to Allii Dr. And it is one heck of a busy road, and is noisy until late at night. You can close the shutters to drown the noise a bit, but then you run into the bedroom getting pretty warm. I am a heavy sleeper and didn't mind it much, but I can see it being an issue if you sleep light.

Prasanna V., FREMONT, CA, 9.30.11

Light House

Hello, the house that we rented was amazing, the outside area near the pool was where we spent most of our time, so I would have to say that was the best part. Customer service was good, house was well stocked with items we needed. Sercurity guards at the gate were very helpful and friendly. Our trip was great the whole time we where there so I cant really say what was the best part. " The whole trip" Best restaurant would have to be BUBBA GUMMP, what an amazing, friendly place, with great food and service. The adive I would give to someone who wanted to stay at the house, would be. " Sit, eat, drink and enjoy the peace and quite this house brings." Thanks to everyone who made our holiday one to remember, thanks to all the locals, you guys are lovely people, kind and friendly, you made us feel welcomed.

Phil O., Newborough, Victoria, 9.20.11

Light House

The light house is an amazing house! It was better than expected and it made our vacation that much better. It has everything you can possibly need for a comfortable stay... - Towels -- LOTS AND LOTS of towels including beach towels - Extra bed sheets, comforters, blankets, etc - Fully stocked kitchen with everything other than perishables - Soaps, detergent, dish washing liquid, shampoo/conditioner, etc - The owner had also provided us with a full binder with things to know about the house, the area, emergency services, things to see, and numbers to call. - board games and books - BBQ grill was clean and ready to go with all the tools required for a great a barbeque We were a total of 8 people and we enjoyed every bit of the house. There was a small private beach just 2-3 mins walking distance. The community is gated with a security guard patrolling 24/7. The house has plenty of fans and windows creating lots of ventilation. In short, the light house description and pictures do not do it justice. RECOMMENDED FOR EVERYONE!

The customer service I received was excellent. The location of the house is just stupendous.

White Sands Village 121

We loved that the unit was across the street from the Magic Sands beach, my kids would go play in the surf and then end up in the pool every time. The unit was very comfortable and spacious. The 4 of us did not feel crowded at all (both of my sons are now taller than me!). The staff at the condo were very helpful gave us great tips on places we were interested in and very friendly. We appreciated finding fins & masks in the unit so we didn't have to rent any equipment for snorkeling. We also added a couple boogie boards to the units water gear. We will look into availability of this unit if we come back to the Big Island next year.

We were there for 6 nts. House is really spacious for 7 of us & great swimming pool. However, it would be great to gave A/C on the top floor, as well. Overall, we had a wonderful time at the house. Staff were fie do on the phone and meet our needs as we requested.

Hale Lihi Lani - Hale Kai O Kona 7

I cannot say enough positive things about this property to truly do it justice. It was perfect for our family!!! We spent 8 marvelous days there, watched sea turtles from the balcony and met some great people along the way. In the evening when we had worn ourselves out with snorkeling, body surfing, volcano visiting, sunbathing and other adventures, it was nice to sit on either lanai and watch the sun go down. Our family has truly enjoyed this property and will definately return!

Jennifer H., Vancouver, WA, 7.25.11

This property was very clean, lovely. The kitchen was very well stocked. We very much enjoyed our time and would recommend this property to our friends.

Hale O'Lihi Kai

This house was in the perfect location for relaxation and fun. Short walk to town, amazing views, sounds of waves at night and perfect location on the beach and lagoon. Loved the ability to have numerous places to sit and relax, as well as the openness of the home in general. Sound system completed the ambience. Ideal spaciousness and separation for numerous couples. The pool with waterfall was wonderful. The only drawbacks are minor wear and tear issues. Enjoyed snorkelling at Kuahala Beach (rent snorkel gear right across street), boogie boarding at Kua Beach (by the Four Seasons) and deep sea fishing with The Nightrunner Fishing. Can use the facilities at the Hilton Waikiloa for a fee and enjoy all they have to offer. Enjoyed alot of time just walking on the beach and enjoying the lagoon right in the backyard. Beware that spiders were prevalent in the area and vegetation around the pool. Overall, would recommend this home for two families with kids (not too young due to lots of steps) or multiple couples without kids. We would consider coming back, since it was the most relaxing vacation we have had. Used to be sold only on Maui but this made us a believer in the beauty of Kona!

Cliff H., Morgan hill, Ca, 6.19.11

Kona Lava Beach House

Our May visit to Kona was fantastic and staying at the Beach House's convenient location was an experience in itself, the home was clean and comfortable with modern amenities and the garage well stocked with pool floats for days at the house and boogie boards and such for days at the beach! The views from the ocean facing side of the home were wonderful from the gorgeous sunsets to the daily views of spinner dolphins, kayakers, snorkelers, parasailers and more often observed while lounging in the pool! Mike provided us with a friendly welcome and couldn't have been more accommodating to us during our stay! It was nice to be within walking distance to shopping and restaurants- but if you're going to shop til you drop I recommend driving downtown and parking. A couple favorite restaurants we visited were Huggos (don't skip dessert!) and Lulu's- but overall everywhere we ate had delicious, unique offerings. Everyone was friendly and more than willing to share information- ask the island folks for recommendations on what to do and where to go while taking advantage of the islands size. If you've got a car, make sure you drive around and check out the scenery the different terrains and ecosystems of the island are as amazing as its black, green and white sand beaches, other activities we recommend are the Umauma Experience, a zipline, and sunset catamaran ride! ALOHA!

Kona Lava Beach House

We love this house! I was jealous of myself while sitting in the hottub right on the ocean watching the sunset. The house is very clean, beds comfortable, great location, boogie boards, pool floats, well stocked kitchen, and the view...unbelievable. Easy access to excellent snorkeling just a few houses away. Mike was extremely helpful regarding the house and places to eat and just an all around nice guy. I never thought I would be one of those people who would vacation in the same place every year but after 5 days at the Kona house I could stay again and again and for much longer. There were 8 of us...2 families of 4 (teenage kids)...and there was nothing better than spending the day in the ocean at Hapuna beach or elsewhere, then coming back home to swim in the pool and sit in the hot tub. Can't wait to go back! BTW...if you stay in an oceanfront home...expect the ocean noise and bring earplugs. If you are not happy at this house in this setting, then you are probably not happy anywhere.

David G., San Luis Obispo, CA, 4.30.11

Kona Lava Beach House

The best thing about this house is its location right on the ocean, and the pool and hot tub. The kids loved them. Most likely you won't be swimming in the ocean here though....access is very tough with surf and lava rocks. Customer service from the rental agent was good, and the house was well stocked with beach items and toys for the kids. Kenichi Pacific in Keahou is a great restaurant. This house is within walking distance to downtown Kona, which is nice. Good location for hitting many of the must-see beaches and sites.

Bill L., Helena, MT, 4.27.11

Hale Kokua-Private Home off Ohi Kapua Pl

It was clean and tidy, with many home comforts. The view was stunning and everyone found their beds comfortable. We were only staying on Big Island for 6 nights and this was not enought time to do all the activities available, however the sunset and star gazing tour is a must as is the helicopter ride over the volcano.

Annette C., Ryde, Isle of Wight, 4.12.11

Kona Lava Beach House

The good: the big island is our favorite and we love the scenery, ocean, climate and people! There is no better place to vacation in our book and the ocean view and whale and dolphin watching from the lanai was great! The rest: you certainly cannot beat the location of this house if you are looking for ocean front! We found it to be a bit too loud with the ocean besting on the rocks right outside-definitely not a calming ocean rhythm! Combine this with the extremely busy Ali'i drive out front with lots of early morning and late night traffic and add on top of this noise the brand new house being built next door- that no one bothered to mention prior to our arrival-- and this is one LOUD house. I gues we are lucky as explained to us by the property manager that we weren't there a few months back when they were excavating the lot next door in preparation for the new house!! The house needed some upkeep, some pest control (lots of roaches and ants throughout the house), and some new amenities. I love to cook and the kitchen was a joke! Small, stove only has 3 functional burners minimal counter space and the BBQ was propped up on a 2x6 as one of the wheels was about to fall off- not to mention that the inside was completely rusted out- it was a gamble and an adventure every time we grilled! Most of the patio furniture was ruined by the recent tsunami- Mike replaced some while we were there- with garage sale pick ups with soiled cushions- Owners clearly are not willing to put any money into this house! If you are looking for a great house to take your family-keep looking, this was not for us and probably will not be for you! If you are looking for a house close to the night life for you and your friends and just need a place to crash, this may be your perfect coyote den! We didn't eat out, but the farmers market down the street had awesome fruit, fish from bite me fish market and the rest from Costco, Safeway or target-all very close. If you dive/snorkel, you have to check out the night manta dive. Go with Jacks dive locker and make sure Keller the manta man is on your boat-AWESOME!!

Light House

The unit was spacious and clean and well equipped for our needs. We did not require any special service. I have already told friends about the accommodation we enjoyed. I am considering taking my family to the same place next year. We loved the Kona Brewery Restaurant although it is hard to see even the menu because it is so dark in there although they did provide flashlights. The food is good and good value. A luau is a "must" event for anyone holidaying in Hawaii; even the children loved it. The fresh flower arrangement that greeted us at the home was a lovely, welcoming surprise, thank you. Hibiscus Hale

Hibiscus Hale is perfect; roomy, quiet, well equipped. Pool and hot tub are divine, deck is glorious. The beds are very comfortable. Be prepared for some clouds in the afternoons (somewhat of a relief). Kitchen is very well equipped and easy to work in. The greenery surrounding the house and pool is beautiful. We didn't know what to do with our luggage on our last day between check out: 12:00 and our flight: 10:45pm... We loved the local beaches and they are easy to reach...ten min. away. The snorkeling was amazing, sea turtles and colorful fish abound. The food at Fish Hopper was delicious. Drive to the end of 270 and check out the view, breathtaking!

Mark and Elizabeth O., Germantown, TN, 3.20.11

Hibiscus Hale

We all really enjoyed the house we rented it was very nice and very comfortable and clean. It fit all us very well. It did make us think that the house had two bedrooms with bathrooms connected and it only had one. we felt that was a bit misleading in the way it was worded online. The pool was great really a nice size pool, also very well kept. The one thing we had a problem with was laundry hadn't got brought in until just a couple of days before we left. So we had to buy some towels I think maybe just a misunderstanding for the laundry service as to when all the towels and sheets had to be dropped off. It is a very nice place to stay thank you

Tammy N., Chehalis, Wa, 3.7.11

Light House

The house size was perfect for the 8 of us. The pillows and beds could be upgraded for more comfort. the lights from the baseball field behind the house were annoying, along with the noise. Pool could be heated for much more enjoyment. Location was perfect,

Carey Y., La Porte, TX, 2.27.11

Pua Ma Ke Kai

We loved the house. Found it to be spacious for our group of six. Beach access is a stone's throw and the pool and hot tub were fab. We saw beaches every day for the back poach and had two while days that we sat at the house whale watching and reading books with cocktails in hand. We highly recommend and will be returning.

Christina M., Alameda, CA, 2.16.11

Hibiscus

The House and the view was amazing...Pool should have been heated or at least have the option for you to pay to have it heated in the winter time. I know it says no AC but the bedrooms really needed ac.

Brian F., La Grange, IL, 2.4.11

Hibiscus Hale

The unit was large and clean. Victoria was excellent to deal with. The worst part was that the vaccuflow did not work, Milton came by and said he would bring us another vaccuum but he never got there so I was a bit embarrassed that the floor was so dirty and with a baby crawling around it would have been nice to have. My advice for anyone renting this unit with small children would be that the pool is not heated and it was too cold for a baby to be in. I would however recommend this unit highly for family get togethers as it is large and well stocked, it could however use more mixing bowls. This is the second house we have rented from you and we have always been happily surprised with the units. If it hadn't have been for the vaccuum issue I would have rated it four out of five stars. Maholo!

Lori E., , , 2.1.11

Light House

The house is nice and just a 15-20min walk to Ali'i Drive. The main floor bedroom doesn't have the best ventilation and there's no shower or bathtub for it, so whoever uses it has to shower downstairs or upstairs. The pool never sees the sun, so is great for "ice baths" after long bike rides or runs. Plenty of towels and a few basic supplies made the house "move-in" ready. The place has wi-fi, which is great and AC is available (for an additional) cost if you want it...but you don't really need it. We had a great time and look forward to visitin Kona again. Thanks very much.

Pierre L., Dallas, Texas, 1.23.11

Hibiscus Hale

This property proved to be more beautiful than what we anticipated or the photos can detail. The apponitments were excellent. Plenty of dishes, stemware, pots and pans. We prepared and ate most of our meals in the home. We used the gas grill for several of our meals. Costco, Safeway and Wal-Mart are all just a short drive away. The home is also very close to downtown Kailua-Kona. The property manager and owners were very promt in addressing our questions about the property and solicited our input on any improvements that we had to offer that would make other users more comfortable. The property manager was so nice that the whole family now considers her a part of us. I took several pictures of the property to brag to our friends about our Christams vacation in beautiful Hawaii. We even went to the Christmas eve Island Breeze luau at the King Kamehameha Hotel. We also snorkeled at the Captain Cook monument with the Fairwind II charter. Saw green sea turtles at several of the beaches too. I have been to the Hawaiian Islands numerous times, but this Christmas trip was the best of all thanks to the beauty of the Hibiscus Hale, the friendly staff and having our immediate family together while the grandchildren are still young enough to appreciate it. We had our last meal before departing at the Knoa Inn in downtown. The selection of locally caught fish was excellent. It is out dream to revisit this home again. We would recommend it to anyone. My wife has already made a recommendation to a couple we met at the beach who had a large family gathering and was doing it by renting multiple rooms at an area hotel. They were paying more for the individual rooms than what the home is available for.

Fred M., Newman Lake, WA, 12.29.10

Kona Lava Beach House

The Kona Lava Beach house is an older home situated right at the waterfront. It has a hot tub and pool, which needs to be re-plastered, but which is right at the ocean side and presents spectacular views of the ocean, whales, spinner dolphins, and amazing sunsets. The house had plenty of room for 5 adults and two children and we appreciated the extra ammenities, such as extra beach towels, laundry soap, etc. It is within walking distance of downtown Kona, which has some fun shops, galleries, and good places to eat such as the Fish Hopper restaurant. We had an amazing time while in Hawaii, but I will say that the house does need to invest some money in upgrading the home and general cleanliness. Aloha!

Kelly S., Helena, Montana, 12.29.10

Hibiscus Hale

Well appointed with beach chairs, mats, lots of dishes/pots & pans. Highlight of our trip was a visit to Pu'uohonua Honaunau.

Charles V., Orinda, CA, 10.27.10

Orchid House

This is a great house-- nicely appointed but not so chi chi that it feels uncomfortable. Convenience to Keiki Beach was amazing-- we loved walking out our back gate directly to the beach. Views are incredible, and the lanais are amazing. Would love it if there were a chaise or something on the Master Bedroom lanai. Access to town and shopping was fabulous. If you have little keikis (not in strollers), it's not really walking distance, but close enough. Kitchen, bathrooms and laundry room were all perfect and well-equipped. Several window cranks throughout the house need to be fixed, but that wasn't a big problem for us. Master bath jacuzzi wasn't operational when we were there, but again, not a big problem. The Master bathroom and closet were both absolutely enormous, and we loved the huge dual showerhead shower-- what a luxury! Construction next door really wasn't an issue-- virtually no noise, all during the middle of the day. The house is mostly done, regardless-- just needs some landscaping and interior work. In fact, most noise comes from the soccer/baseball field next to Kona Bay Estates-- the field is very well used, and there's lots of happy screaming during the day/evening. Didn't bother us at all, but visitors should be prepared. We weren't advised that we would have to pay an additional fee for A/C-- initially felt as though we were being nickel-and-dimed on top of the relatively high price for the house, but it was actually a good reminder that electricity is really at a premium on the island, and that we should be even more conservative than usual when using it. Ideally, the owners or manager should consolidate the two instruction binders-- there was some conflicting information. Customer service was great-- beautiful flowers upon arrival, and someone appeared to turn on the A/C within minutes after our call. We absolutely LOVED the Kona Brewing Company-- you MUST go. The pizza is to die for, and I've never tasted such amazing vanilla ice cream (and believe me, I've sampled a LOT). Also loved the Fair Wind II-- very professionally run, enjoyable catamaran, great snorkeling-- perfect for families with little ones. We also enjoyed sportfishing with the 'Bite Me' sportfishing company. Must go to Hapuna Beach-- one of the best we've ever been to. All-in-all, a great trip-- we would definitely stay here again. Thanks so much!

Hibiscus Hale

Aloha, Overall accommodations were great and just as described in pre-trip literature. Neighborhood is were maintained and very quiet. House, pool and grounds are aged, but very comfortable and well cared for. Very close to shopping and beaches, however Kona beaches are sparce and crowded. Much of the shoreline is rocky and unsuitable for beach goers. A short drive South to Spencer's Park is well woth the trip and rewards you with white sand beaches and shallow waters for kids to swim and play in. Hot tub did not work at all and the kitchen range oven stopped working two nights prior to our departure. Neither could be repaired prior to departure and the oven created a problem cooking our meals. Safeway Super Market located next door to Wal Mart offers free discount cards that will save you about 25% on grocery purchases. Just ask for a card the Customer Service Counter. We had a party of nine (six adults & three children) at the house for two full weeks and had plenty of room for all and more than enough sleeping accommodations. Aloha !!

The Kona View House

We absolutely loved the Kona View House! And, if anyone is wondering if the house could possibly live up to the pictures you see online, well, it is better. The pictures of the house do not do it justice. When we walked in, all of us made comments about it being even more spectacular in person. The location is great too since you are walking distance to a beach on either side of the house. We all want to stay there again and we all highly recommend it.

Great house, with good beach access for a non-beachfront property. The sand beach is rare on the Big Island. The close access to town made it easy to plan our day. "Huggos on the Rocks" and "Jackie Reys" are great places to eay. The only negative was the pool was way too cold to swim. We went in January so the sun may warm it in the summer.

The Kona View House

We loved the view, watching the waves crashing, dolphins frolicking from the deck. Spectacular sunsets! Customer service was great. Did not have a greeter at the house, which we have enjoyed when renting apartments and houses in other parts of the world. But it worked out OK. The upstairs bath (not master) needs work. The bath does not drain and faucet is very touchy, little water pressure with warm/hot water. Plenty of pressure with cold water. The best part of our trip...the house! Volcanoes Park! Submarine ride! Hula Girl Coffee tour/tasting! Bite Me Fish Market at the marina, Place of Refuge (Don't miss it!). Best Restaurant...fresh Monchong (from Bite Me) on our grill at the house! Otherwise loved Huggos On the Rocks I wish I had more time to explore the eastern part of the Island. Hard to do from Kona, but wouldn't have missed this house for anything. We loved it.

The Kona View House

The house was perfect for myself, my wife and our 1 year old son. The koi pond was a bit of a challenge for the 1 year old, but we managed to gate it off. The location was great, a few minutes walk to 2 different beaches. One for snorkeling and the other for boogie boards and body surfing. There are both boogie boards, beach mats, and snorkel gear at the rental and this was great. The TV's were a challenge and we could not get either DVD to work. Not a big issue for us. The wireless internet was great to have as well. Best insider tip for Kona, is to visit the small town of Honolola, about 20 minutes up the hill from Kona. Have lunch or dinner at the Garden Restaurant (beside the coffee shop), the best meal we had in all Hawaii and very reasonable.

Hibiscus Hale

The Hibiscus Hale home on the Big Island was perfect for our family. The pool and yard were clean and well maintained. We especially loved the fact that the downstairs was large enough for our kids to have their "own" space. We will definitely come back in the future! Mahalo. To future guests...bring a knife sharpener if you plan on cooking. We easily refilled the propane and bar-b-que'd almost every night. With all the wonderful fresh fish at the local markets - who could resist? Aloha & see you soon.

Kona Lava Beach House

Great location. The house was very nicely furnished and met all of our needs. Kenichi Pacific was the best restaurant we tried. We also liked Jamesons by the Sea, recommended by Paul. The observatory tours (Mauna Kea Summit Adventures) was worth every penny. Paul was a good host and offered good suggestions.

Kona Lava Beach House

Great home with a incredible view!!! The pool and hot tub are acually built in the ocean! We sat and enjoyed all of it and saw dolphins, whales, and turtles from the porch every day. We fed 4 different Morey eels daily, and acually named them all. I would come back to this house!! Highly recomended.

Kona Lava Beach House

Overall we had a good time. The swimming pool does need to be cleaned more frequently. For the 7 days we were there, no one came to clean it. thanks

Ginger House

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Ginger House! We loved the openess and the many sliding doors exiting to the pool or the lanais. The customer service was excellent! We would have loved to have four chaise lounges there, instead of the two provided for us. We bought two additional ones at Kmart and left them there. The house was amazing and furnished in the Hawaiian theme which was fun. Our only complaint was the two bedrooms on each side of the stairs with the open space. The blinds were nice, but these two bedrooms didn't give the occupants any privacy. We had a fabulous time and loved the proximetry of the beach and lagoon, directly across the street. Thanks for a wonderful and restful family vacation! The Kellys

Hibiscus Hale

We had a fantastic time at this house. It was everything we had hoped for in our vacation lodging. The house was clean, well kept, and very very well stocked with everything we needed as a family vacation, but could not take with us on the aircraft: beach towels, beach mats, sun umbrella, kids sand toys, etc. Bring your own soap and shampoo.... The beds were fantastic...better than ours at home unfortunately - and the kitchen very well equipped, including a stock of spices and other non-perishables. What we needed we bought locally. We purchased our food at the Sack and Save, and joined their "shopping club". It saved about 30% on our grocery bill, and cost nothing. The place is about 10 miles away from the Kona airport, in a quiet residential neighborhood. Even at night, the house was easy to find on our first arrival, and we had no difficuties with getting in. We never saw anyone else on the street, but it was a nice neighborhood nonetheless. The view from the back deck was beautiful at sunset, but the only way to see the ocean was from the crow's nest office room, up on the very top pf the house. To call this a 'partial ocean view" is a bit of a stretch, but I would not consider it a negative against the listing. Enjoy!

The Kona View House

The Kona View House was fantastic! It was genuinely a home away from home. It was tastefully decorated with nice linens and beautiful towels. The kitchen was well equipped, it even had plastic containers for left-overs, fancy glasses for wine and cocktails as well as gourmet quality knives. The wireless internet was great, as we all had to bring laptops to do little bits of correspondance or email and the kids had homework. On one occasion we plugged a laptop into the printer, as it had a USB port. Everything else was as described - it was very close to two beaches and it was oceanfront. Don't laugh about the oceanfront. I once rented an oceanfront home that turned out to be on top of a cliff and it was a 20 minute walk to get down to the water. We had to walk down the block then along a switchback trail to get to the water that was 3 stories below the house.

Hibiscus

The view was stunning, the house just beautiful. very spacious, ideal for my family and I to enjoy my fathers 60th birthday. Kona itself was a little dead, and all restaurants were shut by 9pm. we spent most of the week enjoying oursleves on the premises with bbq's and glasses of wine. the weather is something i would like to have been told about. It was always beautiful in the mornings, but by early afternoon a type of volcanic ash fog had built up all over the island. Every evening we had strong down pours, which could last a few hours, then morning was gorgeous again. We also took a plane ride around the island and i would strongly reccommend that. It gave a great insight to the entire island, a fantastic view of the volcano and a great all round impression of "Big Island" itself. Money well spent. all in all i really could not fault the house. the tv would not work for us, and a cable guy had to come out mid week and the sound system was faulty, but the standard of accomodation was second to none. i would definitely return to this house without a seconds thought. It is a great way to switch off watch the pacific and relax to a sunset in the heated jacuzzi! We all really thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and thanks to Hawaiin beach holidays for that

Hibiscus

It was a very enjoyable stay -- beautiful setting and great house. I would have preferred air conditioning for the master bedroom however so that we could close the windows while we slept (the wonderful waves crashing on the rosks is pretty noisy when one is trying to sleep). Kit Foley from Blue Sky Cuisine came to our house to cook a wonderful meal for our anniversary and we'd definitely recommend him to anyone. Thanks for a lovely holiday.

Light House

Hello, We loved the home we stayed in. It was perfect for 9 people. We also liked how accessible everything was from this location, walks on the beach, walks into Kona, shopping and the hwy to leave the city. The home was clean and well cared for. My only complaint would have been the construction next door which started at 7 am every day except Sunday. We were in bed early and up early but it would have been nice to have a choice sometimes as it was quite noisy. We realize this is beyond your control. Maybe an 8 am start would have been nice but for workers we realize it is cooler earlier. We had concerns over the shower floor in the master bedroom as the water never drained properly and sat in the doorway. We mopped the water up as it concerned us. Otherwise we loved the house, the big island and had a wonderful trip. I would recommend the home and the place to anyone. Thank you Barb Munro

Kona Lava Beach House

The house and location are both perfect. I got chills (good ones) when I walked into the house for the first time. There was a mama whale and her calf out in the water blowing and playing. What a welcome. I love the big island, it is my favorite. I will definately be back. We will always try to travel with other couples so we can stay in this wonderful house. Mahalo!

Tuberose House

The Tuberose House is private, quiet, and close to Kailua. The pool was cool, but clean and nice. We spent a lot of our time outside looking at the sunset, or enjoying the early morning warmth. Our favorite restaurant is Merrimans with Pesto's coming in a close 2nd.

Tuberose House

Big island is the perfect place that you can remember your great days in your childhood. You can play with a turtle, fish, monk seal, and gekko! Also, you can experience the super adventure with picking up mango, papaya, and so many fruits from trees. And The Bamboo House!!!!! It was a perfect place to stay in Big Island. We had a lovely sunset dinner at Tuberose House. We aresure that we plan to come back here! thank you,

Kona Lava Beach House

The house was perfect, absolutely awesome. My wife and I and 3 sons had a wonderful time and hated to have to leave. Pool and hot tub were great, 180 degree ocean view was amazing as was the snorkeling right in front of the house- thousands of fish in 70 foot visibility. Beds were comfortable, rooms and bathrooms were big and clean, kitchen was fairly well stocked with hardware (and even some food items) and the ice chest and body boards were nice to take to the beaches. We will definately be staying here our next trip to the big island. Mahalo!

Fabulous location! Love the ability to walk to town yet have total privacy from neighbors & a very special beach/lagoon in front. House & pool have marvelous design with ease/comfort for multiple people to have their own space.

We were very comfortable at the Tuberose House. The best experience we have had in Hawaii, yet. The pool was cool, but inviting and we made a lot of use out of it. We spent most of our time on the lanai, and the privacy was great. Thanks again.
