The Kona Lava Beach House was everything it looked like it would be. Absolutely perfect location, Beautiful setting, The home was warm and very inviting, My wife and I stayed there for 9 days and loved every moment of it. Beautiful sunsets, seeing dolphins and whales from the deck. Just perfect.

Great place
Steve S., Reno, NV, 1.31.12
The 3 bedrooms and 3 baths made this very convenient for all. Roy's restaurant down the street was really good, a little loud but service was great. Although bbq almost every night at the unit is what we wanted to do. Rent one of these condos and you will have a blast!!!
Joyce K., Edmonds, WA, 1.30.12
Location was great. Customer service was good but emails weren't returned when I had questions. The air conditioning is lousy in the master bedroom and freezing cold in the 2nd bedroom. A phone would have been nice and 10 AM checkout is not a reasonable time.
Dean B., Richmond, BC, 1.30.12
As often said in the real estate world, "location, location, location!". That explains the best attribute of this house. What could be better than watching whales and spinner dolphins entertain as you have breakfast on the lanai? The shops and restaurants of Kailua Kona are just a few blocks away. It's a little tricky getting out of the driveway onto busy Alii Drive, but drivers were usually gracious enough to let you out. Greeter Mike was attentive to our needs; brought new propane tank for grill so we wouldn't run out & suggested restaurants to try. (Lava Java was very "Ono!") Loved sitting in the hot tub each evening sipping wine! To address previous reviews, yes, the house is victim to the ravages of sea air. How could it not be? It hangs out on the ocean. Loved our stay at Kona Beach House!
LYNN L., Midland, TX, 1.22.12
What we liked best about the Hibiscus, or Blue Water as the owner calls it, was definitely the VIEW. This has certainly the best view in Kona and perhaps on the whole west coast of the island. The property is ocean-front on a slant that allows views out and to the north, clear of any other close property. The lanai has plenty of teak patio chairs, lounges and tables, and we enjoyed watching the crashing waves and the cruise ships which dropped anchor close by. You are close to a very nice public beach reached by walking the low seawall framing the ocean-side. This was both a plus and a minus; you are in a gated, patrolled neighborhood but the seawall is a public access "highway"; however, we had no problems and once we got over the initial surprise of seeing strangers so close to the house, it was fine. The pool was the only disappointment; despite sunny weather, it was quite cool and needed cleaning so we never used it. The hot tub was fine. Someone should pull the weeds growing out of the rock around the hot tub & parts of the pool edge; otherwise these will eventually break the rocks apart. There were a few minor things that needed fixing upon arrival (loose toilet seat/broken closet door) but the manager fixed them promptly and we felt he would attend to the major ones later (no stoppers in the master bedroom sinks-just the pipe holes/broken luggage rack). The kitchen was well-stocked, and the outside grill worked well. The house is very modern with many stair steps; probably won't work well for the elderly nor for families with very young children as floor & furniture surfaces are very hard. The glass doors can be completely opened up ocean-side which was very pleasant. The entryway is comprised of large stone squares surrounded by water and a waterfall; the waterfall sound was pleasant but it needs the white salt cleaned, the plantings need some attention and the pond needs more stones to cover the bottom & the tubing. There was a major problem with the stone-paved circle drive but it appeared to be severely broken from a large tree recently(?) lost in the center and will be a major expense to repair. All in all, we took a point off for some maintenance, but the 5-star view will enchant you!
John and Susan N., Marshfield, WI, 1.21.12
Our rented unit was very spacious, comfortable, and convenient. The pictures do no do the unit justice. I highly recommend this.
The best part of my trip was doing a night manta ray dive with Kona Diving Company. Their service and knowledge was great. We saw 21 mantas. Even the snorkelers had close encounters.
Sinee K., LIBERTYVILLE, IL, 1.20.12
Very nice, well maintained home, right on the beach and close to down town Kona. The only thing it lacked was its own pool; that was not a problem for us, there is a very nice community pool.
Seth A., Des Moines, WA, 1.16.12
We had an absolutely wonderful time at the Kona Lava Beach House. The only thing that would have made it better was a longer stay! The owners have great amenities....even down to binoculars which we used ever morning to watch dolphins and a whale while sipping our Kona coffee on the master bedroom balcony....it just doesn't get any better than that! It was a perfect home and we appreciated the owners renting it out, mahalo! Michael was great at showing us the ins and outs of the house, he even made sure we had a crib and highchair for our granddaughter (this even included freshly laundered baby blankets and sheets!) The house is the perfect distance from town to walk. Make sure you talk with the local people, networking is huge here, so ask....they have great suggestions and we saved lots of money by connections, everything from 20% two different meals at resturants to 20% off a tour! The local people could not have treated us nicer! There were a total of 8 in our family with us and the house was large enough...no rubbing elbows. Out best suggestion would be, don't over pack! I took 3 light jackets and didn't use one! There is a Walmart and Kmart near by for anything you might want or need. We did a lot and would not have changed a thing...some "musts" in our book would be snorkeling with the dolphins at Captain Cook Bay, night Manta Ray snorkle trip and the Royal Kona Resort Luau. We didn't do the volcano this trip because it wasn't active...next time! Yes we are going back...it was that great! Lastly, to share how blessed we were...yesterday we woke up to the lulling sound of the crashing waves out our windows and this morning we woke up to 4" of fresh snow out our window...we must be back home in Wyoming...only 364 days and counting till we go back....Aloha!
Leslie B., Lander, WY, 1.11.12
Unit was large and roomy, interior was dated, quilt/comforter for master bedroom was a polyester disaster. I know the unit is for sale and likely will not be on the market in the future, but the master bedroom quilt need to be changed Also one of the burners was out making it really a single burner cooktop.
Aaron F., Olympia, WA, 1.7.12
J23 was a wonderful place to spend our time on the Big Island. It had everything and was at a great location. If we return (I mean when) we would definitly try to return to J23. Julia was an EXCELLENT source for anything that we needed, she went above and beyond for all of your needs and questions. We did a lot of meals in the condo and the kitchen was well stocked with quality everything!! On this trip I was surprised to find that the market on Mauni Launi were very close in price to other markets in town and way more convenient!!
If I had only one suggestion it would be a map of the resort, even a cartoonish one would be great.
THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING!!

Beautiful house, would stay there again
Bruce M., Walnut Creek, Ca, 1.4.12
Beautiful view.... Very good customer service... Discovering the different beaches...zip lining up north.... We enjoyed Sam Choy's, Merriman's, The Broadway or something in Hilo... Our family in the empty pool behind the house....expected more from that pool.... We were warm in the sunshine and wet in the fabulous beaches.... Request that the unit have a few more cooking utensils, bring WD-40 for all the doors that need derusting.... Do the zip lining at the eco zip line that just started in Sept....very good! Can't think of an insider tip that we received.... Walking down to the bottom of the valley up north....only had time to go down half way.... Was really nice to have the washer and dryer....
Shelley A., Kirkland, WA, 12.21.11
The house was very clean The customer service was good they answered the question that I had Celebrating my mothers birthday at the luau We only went to one restaurant while we were there The luau with my family and the dancers The black sand beach and waterfalls Bring your spices that you use at your house If your going to cook buy your food at walmart Visit more waterfalls and other beaches The house was great, but I would like to have a curtain in the master bedroom for more privacy.
Cheryl S., BRIDGETON, NJ - New Jersey, 12.6.11
Excellent view, customer service and location from town.
Phil T., San Clemente, CA, 12.3.11
What I liked best about the unit I rented was the view. The customer service I received was excellent. The best part of my trip was hiking the volcano trail. The best restaurant I found was the Big Island Grill which was near the rental. The best picture I took of us was in the volcano trail. I can't wait to tell all my friends about the volcano hike. My advice to someone else staying at this unit would be to make good use of the spa at sunset. The part of my trip I would definitely recommend to others is the rental and the volcano hike. The best insider tip I received on my trip was to be prepared for the long drives and have ample water and food in case of any car mishaps because there's a lot of empty roads. I didn't have time this trip, but the next trip I'm looking forward to visiting a poniolo ranch and the norther part of Hawaii to have steak and burgers.
Tina T., Los Angeles, CA, 11.27.11
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Hawaii and the home - Hibiscus Hale. The house was in a very convenient location and very pleasant. Very well equiped and comfortable. We ventured out daily covering most of the island and were so pleased with the week.
Scott C., Boise, ID, 11.27.11
Hula Cove was a phenomenal place to stay! The full kitchen was wonderful, considering the higher cost of food in Hawaii, and was exceptionally well stocked. The house was very clean when we arrived and everything was ready for us. The location felt very private most of the time and it was just awesome to have your own snorkeling right off the back deck. The only think I would recommend would be bringing some earplugs for overnight. We didn't have trouble with the frogs like some people, but it did rain overnight every night we were there! And when it rains, it really, really, really rains! All in all, I would highly recommend this place to anyone coming to the Big Island.

Tammie H., Halifax, NS, 10.31.11
We stayed at Hali'i Kai before (in a different unit), so we spefically selected unit 15D for its location on this visit. It did not disappoint -- quiet, private, beautiful view. The condo was very well equipped and made our vacation easy and relaxing.
It was all good!
Sharon V., Santa Rosa, CA, 10.24.11
Nice spacious unit. This Condo is ON THE WATER just 75 feet off the balcony. Older tube TV with DVD in LR. Boogie boards & snorkel equipment for 2. Beautiful view of rocky beach & ocean out lani doors. Sound of Ocean lulls you to sleep at night, Beach is known for surfing and Surfers are fun to watch. Good parking on first floor of condo complex. Exterior of complex is dated but inside of unit is very modern. Security is there all night. There is a small public access beach right next to this complex. Convenience store right across the street for last minute essentials & liquor. Close to shopping & restaurants downtown. When going to market & downtown, look for free parking not the public $10 lot on Alii street next to market. Listen to Allen the concierge, he will steer you to the best activities.
Roger R., Hatfield, PA, 10.23.11
What I liked best about the unit I rented was ---the beautiful views and the location near the oceanand it was very quiet and peaceful and we felt safe. The ocean breeze was wonderful The customer service I received was very good. Everyone was very helpful in setting up the trip. The best part of my trip was the beautiful flowers and plant life The best restaurant I found was The best picture I took was of myself (us) I can't wait to tell all my friends that I had the vacation of a lifetime My advice to someone else staying at this unit would be bring an umbrella!! The part of my trip I would definitely recommend to others is make sure you have GPS navigation The best "insider tip" I received while on my trip was I didn't have time this trip, but next trip I'm looking forward to visiting the volcano park for a longer time I do have to comment that the internet service was lousy. I never was able to connect to the Muhammed network with either my Laptop or iPhone. Sophia tried to help but I think someone with IT experience should take a look at the installation. I also have to comment that I think there may be something living between the 2nd and 3rd floors. At night I could hear movement like something (mongoose??) was walking around and maybe nibbling on the wall or ceiling (I was sleeping on the 2nd floor). My wife saw a mongoose or ferret (??) on the 2nd floor roof trying to get inside of the 2nd floor bedroom through the screen with an open window. But we thought it was an incredible experience overall. Thank you for wonderful memories.
Ralph F., Mandeville, LA, 10.22.11
We had an excellent time staying at this property, the house is perfectly presented and the veiws are amazing a great place to watch the sunset over the water and the lights of Kona, the house has all that you could want
We visited the Hawaii Volcanes & the Manuna Kea Summit, all were fantastic. One highlight of our trip was snorkling with the turtles in a small bay north of a marina, that for the moment I cant remember the name of, but if you asked a local the will tell you, it was a suprise how many there were and you didnt need to snorkle as they were feeding so close to the shore. We didnt eat out often as we enjoyed entertaining at home but we did have a fun lunch at Bubba Gumps - be careful the desserts are huge, best to share with a friend ....Mahola and enjoy..Diane from Sydney Australia

Clean, neatly kept and responsive rental owners. The location is very central and easily accessible. Walking distance to the beach.
My other rental owner only communicated by text message. These guys actually picked up the phone. Big difference when you need something, since condos are not standardized like a hotel. They also had a folder with things to do that was neatly organized. It was good to flip through.
Two things I would ask the owners to consider:
1. Providing for some "faster" ceiling fans, since the ones in the master bedroom were pretty slow. Or they could provide a pedestal fan that guests could position where they liked, since the ceilings are a bit low and a faster fan could raise a liability issue.
2. Some beach gear like boogie boards, swim noodles, fins and other snorkel gear would be great. Additionally, another rental I visited even had tennis racquets and balls.
One thing that guests must know: The unit's master bedroom opens to Allii Dr. And it is one heck of a busy road, and is noisy until late at night. You can close the shutters to drown the noise a bit, but then you run into the bedroom getting pretty warm. I am a heavy sleeper and didn't mind it much, but I can see it being an issue if you sleep light.
Prasanna V., FREMONT, CA, 9.30.11
Hello, the house that we rented was amazing, the outside area near the pool was where we spent most of our time, so I would have to say that was the best part. Customer service was good, house was well stocked with items we needed. Sercurity guards at the gate were very helpful and friendly. Our trip was great the whole time we where there so I cant really say what was the best part. " The whole trip" Best restaurant would have to be BUBBA GUMMP, what an amazing, friendly place, with great food and service. The adive I would give to someone who wanted to stay at the house, would be. " Sit, eat, drink and enjoy the peace and quite this house brings." Thanks to everyone who made our holiday one to remember, thanks to all the locals, you guys are lovely people, kind and friendly, you made us feel welcomed.
Phil O., Newborough, Victoria, 9.20.11
The light house is an amazing house! It was better than expected and it made our vacation that much better. It has everything you can possibly need for a comfortable stay... - Towels -- LOTS AND LOTS of towels including beach towels - Extra bed sheets, comforters, blankets, etc - Fully stocked kitchen with everything other than perishables - Soaps, detergent, dish washing liquid, shampoo/conditioner, etc - The owner had also provided us with a full binder with things to know about the house, the area, emergency services, things to see, and numbers to call. - board games and books - BBQ grill was clean and ready to go with all the tools required for a great a barbeque We were a total of 8 people and we enjoyed every bit of the house. There was a small private beach just 2-3 mins walking distance. The community is gated with a security guard patrolling 24/7. The house has plenty of fans and windows creating lots of ventilation. In short, the light house description and pictures do not do it justice. RECOMMENDED FOR EVERYONE!
Mohammed S., Carteret, NJ, 9.19.11
The customer service I received was excellent. The location of the house is just stupendous.
Victor L., La Canada Flintridge, California, 9.3.11
We loved that the unit was across the street from the Magic Sands beach, my kids would go play in the surf and then end up in the pool every time. The unit was very comfortable and spacious. The 4 of us did not feel crowded at all (both of my sons are now taller than me!). The staff at the condo were very helpful gave us great tips on places we were interested in and very friendly. We appreciated finding fins & masks in the unit so we didn't have to rent any equipment for snorkeling. We also added a couple boogie boards to the units water gear. We will look into availability of this unit if we come back to the Big Island next year.
Taru B., San Carlos, CA, 8.24.11
Great location but the weekends get busy because of public access to the tide pools for swimming and snorkeling. Great restaurant is Paolo's in Pahoa...excellent Italian food. This is a remote area and is not a resort area so there are limited dining and shopping options...even if you travel to Hilo. This is for those wanting to shun the resort (touristy) stuff and experience an authentic Hawaiian experience. The weather is much better in this area then in Hilo where it was raining much of the time when we had nice sunshine and cooling breezes. Had a great time and the rental house is very nice. Doug.
Douglas G., Sacramento, CA, 8.22.11
The place is a wonderful site for family visits. My children who are 6 years old twins and cannot really swim yet enjoyed the champaigne pool immensely because it is so quiet that they can just float with their snorkle gears. I saw a turtle which was a real treat. The place is quiet with a gorgeous view. We also met owners of the property and they were really nice. I recommend this place to anybody who would like a quiet get-away. The only drawback is that it is too far away from anything. The restaurants nearby were not exactly star-rated, and we decided to cook for ourselves on most days, which is nice as well, dining out on the porch with nice breeze. But it does take time to go shopping for food and I recommend that you finish all your food shopping before going there. Otherwise, it is a great escape from the hectic life.
Aya A., Tokyo, Tokyo, 8.21.11
We were there for 6 nts. House is really spacious for 7 of us & great swimming pool. However, it would be great to gave A/C on the top floor, as well. Overall, we had a wonderful time at the house. Staff were fie do on the phone and meet our needs as we requested.
Christie I W., San Francisco, CA, 8.14.11
We loved the sunsets at the pool in the evenings!!! Unbelievable! The space was great for out family to spread out---THANK YOU! The Hietala Family--Bozeman, Montana
Liz H., Bozeman, MT, 8.7.11
I will definitely recommend this vacation rental!! One thing I have learned about traveling with 4 boys is that it is so much cheaper to rent a condo or house than to stay at a hotel!! This particular condo was very comfy and convenient to grocery store. I also like that there is a pool table. It definetly kept my boys entertained! We will be back!!!
Jessica B., PHOENIX, AZ, 8.2.11
I cannot say enough positive things about this property to truly do it justice. It was perfect for our family!!! We spent 8 marvelous days there, watched sea turtles from the balcony and met some great people along the way. In the evening when we had worn ourselves out with snorkeling, body surfing, volcano visiting, sunbathing and other adventures, it was nice to sit on either lanai and watch the sun go down. Our family has truly enjoyed this property and will definately return!
Jennifer H., Vancouver, WA, 7.25.11
This property was very clean, lovely. The kitchen was very well stocked. We very much enjoyed our time and would recommend this property to our friends.
Lorraine S., FRESNO, CA, 7.17.11
Best = Location and size. Customer Service was nice. Best part of our trip was snorkling outside the house. Best restaurant was either Ponds in Hilo or Pearl's Cafe & Bakery on H11 on way to volcanoes Best picture we took was anything snorkling My advice is stay at this place.
Margaret G., Seaman, OH, 6.26.11
This house was in the perfect location for relaxation and fun. Short walk to town, amazing views, sounds of waves at night and perfect location on the beach and lagoon. Loved the ability to have numerous places to sit and relax, as well as the openness of the home in general. Sound system completed the ambience. Ideal spaciousness and separation for numerous couples. The pool with waterfall was wonderful. The only drawbacks are minor wear and tear issues. Enjoyed snorkelling at Kuahala Beach (rent snorkel gear right across street), boogie boarding at Kua Beach (by the Four Seasons) and deep sea fishing with The Nightrunner Fishing. Can use the facilities at the Hilton Waikiloa for a fee and enjoy all they have to offer. Enjoyed alot of time just walking on the beach and enjoying the lagoon right in the backyard. Beware that spiders were prevalent in the area and vegetation around the pool. Overall, would recommend this home for two families with kids (not too young due to lots of steps) or multiple couples without kids. We would consider coming back, since it was the most relaxing vacation we have had. Used to be sold only on Maui but this made us a believer in the beauty of Kona!
Cliff H., Morgan hill, Ca, 6.19.11
Perfect location, friendly and attentive service, made me feel special on my birthday. The best part was snorkeling in the tide polls and then walking a few steps to the great accommodations. Spent the entire time at the tidepools, other than visiting Volcano, next time I'd like to stay longer and do some sightseeing.
Christopher P., San Mateo, CA, 6.10.11
Our May visit to Kona was fantastic and staying at the Beach House's convenient location was an experience in itself, the home was clean and comfortable with modern amenities and the garage well stocked with pool floats for days at the house and boogie boards and such for days at the beach! The views from the ocean facing side of the home were wonderful from the gorgeous sunsets to the daily views of spinner dolphins, kayakers, snorkelers, parasailers and more often observed while lounging in the pool! Mike provided us with a friendly welcome and couldn't have been more accommodating to us during our stay! It was nice to be within walking distance to shopping and restaurants- but if you're going to shop til you drop I recommend driving downtown and parking. A couple favorite restaurants we visited were Huggos (don't skip dessert!) and Lulu's- but overall everywhere we ate had delicious, unique offerings. Everyone was friendly and more than willing to share information- ask the island folks for recommendations on what to do and where to go while taking advantage of the islands size. If you've got a car, make sure you drive around and check out the scenery the different terrains and ecosystems of the island are as amazing as its black, green and white sand beaches, other activities we recommend are the Umauma Experience, a zipline, and sunset catamaran ride! ALOHA!
Greg G., , , 6.1.11
This was a lovely unit! Although I had initial reservations about facing the pool, these were unfounded, as the pool was not used very much and those who did were not noisey. It was great being conviently located across the street from the Queens shopping centre and also the King's shopping complex. The entire area was beautifully maintained and landscaped. I would have appreciated a map of the complex. We arrived at night, and it was a bit challengin finding our unit. I also understand that there was a work out room for the complex on the website, but was never able to find it! Other than that, everything was great - a beautiful unit, great location close to services and beaches, without being in the heart of an urban area.
Susan M., Calgary, Alberta, 5.23.11
Awesome rental, very kid friendly and comfortable. The view is amazing!
Andrew N., Concord, CA, 5.20.11
The unit was very spacious & laid out. It was very well stocked with what we needed. The customer service was very good. We had to call about the dryer making noise, needing a propane tank & the master shower drain was slow. They dryer was fixed BUT does still need work. The propane tank was delivered ASAP. We did not address the drain issue until we were leaving. I'm sure it will be taken care of promptly. The best part of the trip was being with family. There was lots for the 3 teenagers to do & the adults to relax. I will highly recommend this condo (already have). The best beach we found was right across from the Veteran's cemetery. It had a sandy beach, good waves & restrooms. We definitely would want to rent again at the Waikoloa Beach Villas.
Pat L., Brentwood, Calif, 5.1.11
The facilities were wonderful. The staff was helpful and friendly. This was a wonderful vacation.
Carl S., River Falls, WI, 5.1.11
We love this house! I was jealous of myself while sitting in the hottub right on the ocean watching the sunset. The house is very clean, beds comfortable, great location, boogie boards, pool floats, well stocked kitchen, and the view...unbelievable. Easy access to excellent snorkeling just a few houses away. Mike was extremely helpful regarding the house and places to eat and just an all around nice guy. I never thought I would be one of those people who would vacation in the same place every year but after 5 days at the Kona house I could stay again and again and for much longer. There were 8 of us...2 families of 4 (teenage kids)...and there was nothing better than spending the day in the ocean at Hapuna beach or elsewhere, then coming back home to swim in the pool and sit in the hot tub. Can't wait to go back! BTW...if you stay in an oceanfront home...expect the ocean noise and bring earplugs. If you are not happy at this house in this setting, then you are probably not happy anywhere.
David G., San Luis Obispo, CA, 4.30.11
clean and well located Max was wonderful and very helpful 7 fine food venues within walking distance
Art R., Mercer island, Washington, 4.28.11
A wonderful rental house - we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and have no reservations to make except (being Brits! we would have liked a kettle to boil water for tea-making! Club beach especially liked!
Christopher M., High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, 4.27.11
The best thing about this house is its location right on the ocean, and the pool and hot tub. The kids loved them. Most likely you won't be swimming in the ocean here though....access is very tough with surf and lava rocks. Customer service from the rental agent was good, and the house was well stocked with beach items and toys for the kids. Kenichi Pacific in Keahou is a great restaurant. This house is within walking distance to downtown Kona, which is nice. Good location for hitting many of the must-see beaches and sites.
Bill L., Helena, MT, 4.27.11
I'm afraid if I say how nice it was, everyone will want to go! The bikes were fun. Nice to have a washer and dryer. The snorkeling was amazing, and the privacy was peaceful. The sound of the surf, frogs, and happy island critters sung us to sleep. It was very clean and even supplied a digital underwater camera. We needed more time to snorkel and explore the pools. Very well stocked kitchen.
John L., Tillamook, Oregon, 4.22.11
What we liked best about the unit we rented was the beautiful, quiet location, and it's luxurious interior. It was by far the nicest accommodation we have stayed in on the big island so far. The customer service was great and provided good communication and information as needed. The best part of our trip was kayaking with the dolphins in Kealakekua Bay. The best restaurant we found was Monstera Sushi and Noodles at the Mauna Lani shops. The best picture we took has yet to be decided because we haven't looked at all of them yet, but probably the dolphin that almost touched my arm in the bay. I can't wait to tell all of my friends that the big island is the best. My advice to someone else staying in this unit would be to make sure the sliding glass door is shut ALL THE WAY or the AC will not work. The part of my trip I would definitely recommend to others is Adventures in Paradise and the various tours they provide, they are the best. The best "insider tip" I received while on my trip was to stay a healthy distance from the dolphins and the sea turtles. Many people did not respect this and I hope the wildlife will not suffer. I didn't have time on this trip, but next time I'm looking forward to seeing Green Sand Beach and going to Hilo.
Kelli R., Tumwater, WA, 4.15.11
It was clean and tidy, with many home comforts. The view was stunning and everyone found their beds comfortable. We were only staying on Big Island for 6 nights and this was not enought time to do all the activities available, however the sunset and star gazing tour is a must as is the helicopter ride over the volcano.
Annette C., Ryde, Isle of Wight, 4.12.11
This was a perfect home away from home for our family. The unit was immaculate and completely outfitted. I believe the only thing we could find missing at all was a hair dryer. The rooms were spacious, well appointed and the bed in the upstairs master suite was so comfortable we were checking to see if we can match it at home. The patio and grill provided a delightful venue for dinners. Having a full laundry made the stay even easier. Access to the beach club was perfect for us although, post-tsunami, there were multiple cabanas without cushions. It is almost embarrassing to mention, given the catastrophic suffering taking place in Japan. At first we wondered about the proximity to the Shops at Mauna Lani but it turned out to be another positive. Good coffee, well stocked shelves, good prepared foods and excellent restaurants. We ate at Tommy Bahamas once and Monstera twice. The responsiveness of the rental agents was perfect. Always available, polite and responsive, they are a great advertisement for the company. All in all, the was one of the most pleasant places in which we have ever stayed and it went a long way towards making it such a delightful vacation. The only suggestion would be....put the house on the beach at the same rental price. Oh well, you can't have everything. Thank you from our family. We will probably ask for the same unit again next year.
Lawrence S., Woodimville, Wa, 4.8.11
The good: the big island is our favorite and we love the scenery, ocean, climate and people! There is no better place to vacation in our book and the ocean view and whale and dolphin watching from the lanai was great! The rest: you certainly cannot beat the location of this house if you are looking for ocean front! We found it to be a bit too loud with the ocean besting on the rocks right outside-definitely not a calming ocean rhythm! Combine this with the extremely busy Ali'i drive out front with lots of early morning and late night traffic and add on top of this noise the brand new house being built next door- that no one bothered to mention prior to our arrival-- and this is one LOUD house. I gues we are lucky as explained to us by the property manager that we weren't there a few months back when they were excavating the lot next door in preparation for the new house!! The house needed some upkeep, some pest control (lots of roaches and ants throughout the house), and some new amenities. I love to cook and the kitchen was a joke! Small, stove only has 3 functional burners minimal counter space and the BBQ was propped up on a 2x6 as one of the wheels was about to fall off- not to mention that the inside was completely rusted out- it was a gamble and an adventure every time we grilled! Most of the patio furniture was ruined by the recent tsunami- Mike replaced some while we were there- with garage sale pick ups with soiled cushions- Owners clearly are not willing to put any money into this house! If you are looking for a great house to take your family-keep looking, this was not for us and probably will not be for you! If you are looking for a house close to the night life for you and your friends and just need a place to crash, this may be your perfect coyote den! We didn't eat out, but the farmers market down the street had awesome fruit, fish from bite me fish market and the rest from Costco, Safeway or target-all very close. If you dive/snorkel, you have to check out the night manta dive. Go with Jacks dive locker and make sure Keller the manta man is on your boat-AWESOME!!

What I liked best about this unit was its location. It is close to very nice beaches.
Paula F., Bellevue, WA, 3.24.11
The unit was spacious and clean and well equipped for our needs. We did not require any special service. I have already told friends about the accommodation we enjoyed. I am considering taking my family to the same place next year. We loved the Kona Brewery Restaurant although it is hard to see even the menu because it is so dark in there although they did provide flashlights. The food is good and good value. A luau is a "must" event for anyone holidaying in Hawaii; even the children loved it. The fresh flower arrangement that greeted us at the home was a lovely, welcoming surprise, thank you. Hibiscus Hale is perfect; roomy, quiet, well equipped. Pool and hot tub are divine, deck is glorious. The beds are very comfortable. Be prepared for some clouds in the afternoons (somewhat of a relief). Kitchen is very well equipped and easy to work in. The greenery surrounding the house and pool is beautiful. We didn't know what to do with our luggage on our last day between check out: 12:00 and our flight: 10:45pm... We loved the local beaches and they are easy to reach...ten min. away. The snorkeling was amazing, sea turtles and colorful fish abound. The food at Fish Hopper was delicious. Drive to the end of 270 and check out the view, breathtaking!
Mark and Elizabeth O., Germantown, TN, 3.20.11
Beautiful house, great views! We couldnt get enough of the sun rises, they were different every day! Kitchen well stocked, comfortable beds. Easy walking distance to Champagne Pond and the Ocean. Quiet gated community, highly recommend!
Christine M., Manchester, Mi, 3.11.11
We all really enjoyed the house we rented it was very nice and very comfortable and clean. It fit all us very well. It did make us think that the house had two bedrooms with bathrooms connected and it only had one. we felt that was a bit misleading in the way it was worded online. The pool was great really a nice size pool, also very well kept. The one thing we had a problem with was laundry hadn't got brought in until just a couple of days before we left. So we had to buy some towels I think maybe just a misunderstanding for the laundry service as to when all the towels and sheets had to be dropped off. It is a very nice place to stay thank you
Tammy N., Chehalis, Wa, 3.7.11
Unit 13H at Hailii Kai is truly breathtaking. We sat on our lanai morning and evening watching hundreds of humpback whales take care of their calves. The sunsets on the water were amazing. The unit itself was plenty big and well planned out. The kitchen appliances were world class and the unit itself is right next to the pool, ocean club and barbecue. The customer service was excellent - the instructions were easy to follow and we didn't have any unit issues. We loved exploring various beaches by day - Hapuna Beach was our favorite, and Spencer Beach was super kid friendly. Puako Beach was a local recommendation so it was very private, but their was quite a bit of lava rock on the shore line. We wanted to get out on the water and had numerous recommendations for Ocean Sports snorkel cruise. It leaves out of nearby A-Bay, and it was phenomenal. We left at 10:30, whale watched for an hour or so and ended up snorkeling to a black sand beach. The wind picked up a little bit so we got to sail for the last hour upon our return. We did head to the volcano for a day, and that was too long for what we actually got to see and do. It is a 2 1/2 hour drive each way, and we felt like the time would have been better spent on the nearby beaches. All in all, we had a great vacation and felt that we were in the perfect spot!
Holly & Brian T., Brier, WA, 3.4.11
The house size was perfect for the 8 of us. The pillows and beds could be upgraded for more comfort. the lights from the baseball field behind the house were annoying, along with the noise. Pool could be heated for much more enjoyment. Location was perfect,
Carey Y., La Porte, TX, 2.27.11
Everything about our one week stay was stupendous The rental unit was top notch, the condo complex is peaceful and beautiful and so much better than staying in a hotel. You will not be disappointed with your accomadations. My family and I particuliarly enjoyed all of the beaches in the area. You just have to cross the street from the Kings Shops and take the short roadway to the beach to find sea turtles and cool snorkeling. The Hilo side is very cool as well. We checked out some waterfalls and the rainforest which were spectacular. Volcano National Park was a disappointment to all 5 of us though. Every book and video you see shows fantastic lava flows in all directions. We didn't see anything resembling this, only some steam , a view of the crater and a walk though a cave called lava tubes. We would have had to drive 3 more hours in the park and hike a couple more hours to get close to where you may or may not see lava flows. From Waikoloa to Volcano National Park it is a 3 hour drive , so if you are looking for lava flows, check with the park first. The Hilo side was more interesting than the park without the lava flo Villasw. We had a wonderful trip and highly recommend Waikoloa Beach Villas.
Gary S., Halifax, Nova Scotia, 2.24.11
We loved the house. Found it to be spacious for our group of six. Beach access is a stone's throw and the pool and hot tub were fab. We saw beaches every day for the back poach and had two while days that we sat at the house whale watching and reading books with cocktails in hand. We highly recommend and will be returning.
Christina M., Alameda, CA, 2.16.11
The management service was great in all respects and prompt. We found 'you' very friendly and helpful. Food waiting for us was wonderful given we arrived late at night. The unit was well equipped and clean. Loved having the BBQ and washer and dryer. We really appreciated how quiet it was especially in the evenings. Great location close to the beach and Queen's Market and King's shops. It was very nice not to have to drive to get day to day items like groceries. Enjoyed the golf course and practice area. We had a number of wonderful dinners...at the Manta Pavillian, Roy's (probably had the best dinner here) and at Sansei's and the lodge in Volcano (very good!) for example. Getting around the island was easy from our villa. We visited all areas of the Island in our 3 weeks. We brought our tandem bike and found it very easy to take off from our 'home' location. We thoroughly enjoyed lots of snorkeling and kayaking at a number of spots around the Island. Essentially, we have no complaints with the Villa or with the service provided and we loved our vacation. We have no hesitation in recommending Waikoloa Beach villas to family and friends. Thank you...Mahalo! Lauren Lypchuk and Ward Strong

We whole family had great fun at this condo for a week! We were so impressed with how perfect the condition and the location the house is- just right size for two families from the U.S and Japan with two young kids! The kids (4 and 5 years old boys) were able to use the equipments there enjoying their vacation and the parents didn't need worry to bring anything along at all. Since so many food and other items (kitchen paper, shampoo, soap, etc) in there, so try not to buy anything until you really need any specific item. It is just 1 minute to ocean and surrounded by green garden, next time we are thinking to spend at least 10 days at this condo so that we have enough time to enjoy the hot tub which we didn't have time to use on this trip! Luping L., Tokyo, Tokyo, 2.11.11
We really enjoyed our stay in this condo - it met all our needs plus more. The condo was very clean and well stocked with cooking utensils and basic spices. It was also nice to have rubbermaid containers, foil, and saran wrap. The beach gear was a nice surprise as it was very handy having the use of beach chairs, beach mats, and a boogie board. The cooler also came in handy for picnic lunches at the beach. We didn't go out for supper much because we found it more relaxing BBQ'ing our supper. The BBQ's at the pool area were well maintained and when they ran out of propane the tank was replaced by the next day. One restaurant we did try was Merrimans at Kings Shops and they had very good pizza. We also went to their more upscale restaurant in Waimea but we found it very pricey and not worth the extra money. Pesto's Cafe in Hilo is a great place for lunch. We did a morning snorkeling tour on the Hula Kai boat which was part of the Fair Winds Snorkeling tours. It was well worth the money for adults - it doesn't really cater to children. The location of the condo was good for us as I think there is more to see on the northern part of the island and has better access over to the east side of the island. There were also a lot of very nice beaches in the vicinity. If someone was looking for more nightlife or wanting to dine out the Waikoloa area may not be the best choice. I would definitely recommend this condo to my friends.
Karen W., Calgary, Alberta, 2.6.11
The House and the view was amazing...Pool should have been heated or at least have the option for you to pay to have it heated in the winter time. I know it says no AC but the bedrooms really needed ac.
Brian F., La Grange, IL, 2.4.11
The unit was large and clean. Victoria was excellent to deal with. The worst part was that the vaccuflow did not work, Milton came by and said he would bring us another vaccuum but he never got there so I was a bit embarrassed that the floor was so dirty and with a baby crawling around it would have been nice to have. My advice for anyone renting this unit with small children would be that the pool is not heated and it was too cold for a baby to be in. I would however recommend this unit highly for family get togethers as it is large and well stocked, it could however use more mixing bowls. This is the second house we have rented from you and we have always been happily surprised with the units. If it hadn't have been for the vaccuum issue I would have rated it four out of five stars. Maholo!
Lori E., , , 2.1.11
This fabulous home was absolutely beyond amazing. It's gracious rooms and open floor plan make it so perfect for a family vacation spot. The entire back of the house opens up to your private pool and the ocean, where surfer watching and whale sightings rule. The owners have thought of every detail: the grill was stocked, serving pieces galore, fabulous beds, binoculars, bikes, scuba equipment, you will need to rent nothing. The location was walk to everything, which we loved. Also, the access to other towns and sights was great. I forgot to mention the movie theater and wii, which was so much for the kids at night. Mary, the house manager, doesnt miss a beat. And is extremely attentive. Cannot rave enough!
Marisa M., Chicago, Illinois, 1.25.11
The house is nice and just a 15-20min walk to Ali'i Drive. The main floor bedroom doesn't have the best ventilation and there's no shower or bathtub for it, so whoever uses it has to shower downstairs or upstairs. The pool never sees the sun, so is great for "ice baths" after long bike rides or runs. Plenty of towels and a few basic supplies made the house "move-in" ready. The place has wi-fi, which is great and AC is available (for an additional) cost if you want it...but you don't really need it. We had a great time and look forward to visitin Kona again. Thanks very much.
Pierre L., Dallas, Texas, 1.23.11
The house was beautiful and well kept. It had many extras like beach equipment. The view was spectacular.
Dr Jim J., Portland, Oregon, 1.17.11
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in K2. We stayed for 11 days and took advantage of the fully stocked kitchen. We were able to shop at Costco and make just about every meal at the unit. This allowed us to eat healthy, afford to stay longer, and do more fun activities like kayaking and the Mauna Kea Summit. The condo was very clean and spacious. We loved the location. Waikoloa provided a much more relaxed experience than Kona could have. The proximity to Queens market made it even better. We will recommend this condo to our friends and when we return to The Big Island, we will definitely come back to K2. Thank You.
Michael T., Sierra Madre, CA, 1.15.11
The unit is located in a wonderful gated community. It was convenient to the Queen and King shops in Waikoloa. It was quite spacious and clean. There were no problems getting to the unit, getting in the unit, parking, etc. There was a TV and DVD player in both bedrooms and the living area. The outdoor kitchen and kitchen appliances were super. The kitchen was well equipped. The beds were comfortable also. We were able to go everywhere on the island that we wanted to get to easily from this location. I would definitely come back and stay here again. Thanks.
Jean S., Midland, Texas, 1.9.11
I absolutely LOVED our stay at the Waikoloa Beach Villa and we will definitely plan on staying there again. The pools were SO nice to relax by. Our 21-month old even loved splashing in the pool! The condo had more than enough room for us. My parents came with my husband and daughter... so we had the twin beds converted into a king and our daughter slept in her pack-n-play in our room. The condo was very luxurious and so comfy. We had a few glitches when we first arrived, but the customer service to fix those were great and very nice. We loved walking around the Queen & King shopping centers and heading to the beach that was less than a 2 minute drive from our condo. We have traveled to the other islands multiple times and this was our first trip to the Big Island and LOVED it! It has everything you'd want for a trip to Hawaii especially the Wiakoloa Beach Villas! HIGHLY RECOMMEND STAYING HERE! It's a perfect place for ALL ages!
Michelle N., Monroe, WA, 1.9.11
Overall it was very nice stay, the condominium was clean, convenient to be next to the pool. On the downside the air conditioner was problematic and did not work at all on the first day and the last day (yes we understood the back doors needed to be shut well after I asked the manager about it, it was not the problem), so got no sleep at all those nights and in particular the last night -- I couldn't belive I was paying that much and the air conditioner wouldn't even work, kind of wrecked the end of the trip for us. --David Powell
Betsy P., Portland, Oregon, 1.3.11
This property proved to be more beautiful than what we anticipated or the photos can detail. The apponitments were excellent. Plenty of dishes, stemware, pots and pans. We prepared and ate most of our meals in the home. We used the gas grill for several of our meals. Costco, Safeway and Wal-Mart are all just a short drive away. The home is also very close to downtown Kailua-Kona. The property manager and owners were very promt in addressing our questions about the property and solicited our input on any improvements that we had to offer that would make other users more comfortable. The property manager was so nice that the whole family now considers her a part of us. I took several pictures of the property to brag to our friends about our Christams vacation in beautiful Hawaii. We even went to the Christmas eve Island Breeze luau at the King Kamehameha Hotel. We also snorkeled at the Captain Cook monument with the Fairwind II charter. Saw green sea turtles at several of the beaches too. I have been to the Hawaiian Islands numerous times, but this Christmas trip was the best of all thanks to the beauty of the Hibiscus Hale, the friendly staff and having our immediate family together while the grandchildren are still young enough to appreciate it. We had our last meal before departing at the Knoa Inn in downtown. The selection of locally caught fish was excellent. It is out dream to revisit this home again. We would recommend it to anyone. My wife has already made a recommendation to a couple we met at the beach who had a large family gathering and was doing it by renting multiple rooms at an area hotel. They were paying more for the individual rooms than what the home is available for.
Fred M., Newman Lake, WA, 12.29.10
The Kona Lava Beach house is an older home situated right at the waterfront. It has a hot tub and pool, which needs to be re-plastered, but which is right at the ocean side and presents spectacular views of the ocean, whales, spinner dolphins, and amazing sunsets. The house had plenty of room for 5 adults and two children and we appreciated the extra ammenities, such as extra beach towels, laundry soap, etc. It is within walking distance of downtown Kona, which has some fun shops, galleries, and good places to eat such as the Fish Hopper restaurant. We had an amazing time while in Hawaii, but I will say that the house does need to invest some money in upgrading the home and general cleanliness. Aloha!
Kelly S., Helena, Montana, 12.29.10
The place was neat, clean and comfortable. All in all we had a wonderful time.
Chris C., Anchor point, Alaska, 12.1.10
The only advice we could pass along would be that this place is great even though it feels like you are driving thru Jurassic Park movie scene to get there. Also bring earplugs as the frogs are loud and go all nite. There is no cell service there but the wifi is a plus! Only negatve was the lock on front gate was hard to operate in the dark.
Sonja K., Vancouver, Washington, 11.7.10
Really liked the kitchen, we felt at home - very comfortable. Liked being able to walk to dinner/shops/beach. Liked having a garage. Place was VERY QUIET.
Sharon H., Goodyear, AZ, 10.31.10
Well appointed with beach chairs, mats, lots of dishes/pots & pans. Highlight of our trip was a visit to Pu'uohonua Honaunau.
Charles V., Orinda, CA, 10.27.10
Unit had a great kitchen, well appointed. Julia was wonderful. So helpful and accomodating!
Peter T., Scottsdale, AZ, 10.18.10
This is a terrific location and the place was well stocked. We were amazed at how uncrowded the complex was. The unit works best for one or two couples instead of a family due to the number of beds.
Tim M., Portland, OR, 9.11.10
This place was excellent lauren was very helpful and she has excellent customer service skills. I really appreciated Mr Mohhamud and his kindness. He has a Great rental. Im so excited and have told my friends about his place that I/m even thinking of doing a couples retreat there from our church here on the mainland. I give you 5 Stars. Gilbert Saldate 626 281-0754
Erma S., Alhambra, CA, 9.10.10
The unit was very clean and maintained well. Customer service was excellent. The best part of this unit is its location to the pool and Hapuna Beach. Also convenient when walking to shops in Waikaloa. Big runner and ran many mornings around Waikaloa Loop. A wonderful time was had by the entire family.
Marjorie K., Piedmont, CA, 8.24.10
This is a great house-- nicely appointed but not so chi chi that it feels uncomfortable. Convenience to Keiki Beach was amazing-- we loved walking out our back gate directly to the beach. Views are incredible, and the lanais are amazing. Would love it if there were a chaise or something on the Master Bedroom lanai. Access to town and shopping was fabulous. If you have little keikis (not in strollers), it's not really walking distance, but close enough. Kitchen, bathrooms and laundry room were all perfect and well-equipped. Several window cranks throughout the house need to be fixed, but that wasn't a big problem for us. Master bath jacuzzi wasn't operational when we were there, but again, not a big problem. The Master bathroom and closet were both absolutely enormous, and we loved the huge dual showerhead shower-- what a luxury! Construction next door really wasn't an issue-- virtually no noise, all during the middle of the day. The house is mostly done, regardless-- just needs some landscaping and interior work. In fact, most noise comes from the soccer/baseball field next to Kona Bay Estates-- the field is very well used, and there's lots of happy screaming during the day/evening. Didn't bother us at all, but visitors should be prepared. We weren't advised that we would have to pay an additional fee for A/C-- initially felt as though we were being nickel-and-dimed on top of the relatively high price for the house, but it was actually a good reminder that electricity is really at a premium on the island, and that we should be even more conservative than usual when using it. Ideally, the owners or manager should consolidate the two instruction binders-- there was some conflicting information. Customer service was great-- beautiful flowers upon arrival, and someone appeared to turn on the A/C within minutes after our call. We absolutely LOVED the Kona Brewing Company-- you MUST go. The pizza is to die for, and I've never tasted such amazing vanilla ice cream (and believe me, I've sampled a LOT). Also loved the Fair Wind II-- very professionally run, enjoyable catamaran, great snorkeling-- perfect for families with little ones. We also enjoyed sportfishing with the 'Bite Me' sportfishing company. Must go to Hapuna Beach-- one of the best we've ever been to. All-in-all, a great trip-- we would definitely stay here again. Thanks so much!
Karen J., Lafayette, CA, 8.16.10
Waikoloa Beach Villas was exactly as the pictures online show. The best part of the trip was visiting the beach close to the unit and finding sea turtles sunning themselves right at the beach. We loved eating at the Imari restaurant over at the Hilton Hotel which is less than 3 miles away. We barbequed and found the Viking gas barbeque wonderful. The Umauma Falls Zipline was great. The snorkeling on this side of the island was wonderful took an excursion out to Kealakekua Bay on the Sea Paradise. Loved the size of our group, its not one of those large party boats it was great. I would definately recommend this place to my friends.
Gayle C., Windsor, CA, 8.16.10
Aloha, Overall accommodations were great and just as described in pre-trip literature. Neighborhood is were maintained and very quiet. House, pool and grounds are aged, but very comfortable and well cared for. Very close to shopping and beaches, however Kona beaches are sparce and crowded. Much of the shoreline is rocky and unsuitable for beach goers. A short drive South to Spencer's Park is well woth the trip and rewards you with white sand beaches and shallow waters for kids to swim and play in. Hot tub did not work at all and the kitchen range oven stopped working two nights prior to our departure. Neither could be repaired prior to departure and the oven created a problem cooking our meals. Safeway Super Market located next door to Wal Mart offers free discount cards that will save you about 25% on grocery purchases. Just ask for a card the Customer Service Counter. We had a party of nine (six adults & three children) at the house for two full weeks and had plenty of room for all and more than enough sleeping accommodations. Aloha !!
Frank M., Floresville, TX, 8.9.10
The unit was clean, well decorated and spacious. The complex is beautifully landscaped and walking distance to a beautiful snokeling and swinning beach, restaurants and shopping but feels quiet and relaxing. The unit says it is comes with shampoo, soap, lotion...what you actually get is a "welcome set" that lasts a few days, so you will need to stock it yourself if you stay for a week. It also has very limited dishes (enough for 4 at most) and no beach gear except for two small sand chairs. Don't miss Lava Java on Ali'i Drive in Kona, great coffee, breakfast and lunch. We did a night-snorkel with the Manta Rays suitable for children. Use Kona Honu Divers. They were great and give you the most "swim time". I cannot say enough about Hawaii Lifeguard Surf Instructors. They got both of our kids (9 and 13) up and surfing in 30 minutes! Great people, great with kids. Aloha!
Heather W., Alameda, CA, 7.1.10
This condo was great. We did not have a single problem. I would recommend this place to anyone. The next time that you visit the Bis Island you will want to stay in Waikoloa Beach Villas. Just please leave a time slot open for me. Regards, M. Jamieson Farmington, UT
Matthew J., Farmington, Utah, 6.28.10
Everything was well thought out for taking care of guest needs--towels, snorkel equipment and fins, fully outfitted kitchen with everything we needed and more. Great view, and swimming in naturally warm pond right down the steps at the rear. Comfortable beds, quiet neighborhood. the owner was helpful and easily accessible when we had questions or needs.
Karen I., Eugene, OR, 6.1.10
This unit was super. Modern conveniences and stocked with all the necessities to make an enjoyable stay. Conveniently located near two nice shopping areas, Queen's Market and King's Shops. The beach was fantastic for swimming or snorkeling. We had a wonderful stay and if I was going to stay on the west side of the Big Island, this is where I would stay. Fantastic.
Lawrence I., Auburn, KS, 6.1.10
We absolutely loved the Kona View House! And, if anyone is wondering if the house could possibly live up to the pictures you see online, well, it is better. The pictures of the house do not do it justice. When we walked in, all of us made comments about it being even more spectacular in person. The location is great too since you are walking distance to a beach on either side of the house. We all want to stay there again and we all highly recommend it.
Kristina S., Los Angeles, CA, 5.17.10
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Waikoloa beach villa. Julia was awesome and the unit exceeded expectations. thanks for all the memories. We will recommend to all our friends.
Dennis E., Rio Rancho, NM, 4.18.10
Beautiful unit close to the clubhouse, right on the ocean. We watched the whales every day. Great to have spices available, top notch appliances, washer and dryer available. Iron was broken when we got there, reported but not replaced.
Paula S., Normandy Park, WA, 4.11.10
It was very nice to stay on the "slow" side of the island. The tidepools are within a minutes walk and was perfect for young kids. Be sure to buy reef shoes! The house was great and the owner was very accomodating and took care of the one issue we had immediately. We ate at Mings Thai and the Italian place next door to Mings (I think it is called Pablos?). Thai was great but the Italian was the best I have had in years.
Brian M., Glen Ellen, CA, 4.6.10
We enjoyed our second stay in this villa. Two things to change for the future: 1) There was not sufficient toilet paper in the unit. 2) the kitchen needs to have a "juicer" of some sort--a hand-press version would be fine so that limes can be juiced easily.
Richard D., Portland, OR, 3.31.10
The Waikoloa Beach Villas are incredibly located. On the "dry" side of the Big Island they are well situated for planning your Island excursions. The property is very well maintained, with many amenities located within walking distance. We were a family of seven with 2 cars and found parking the second car a bit of a challenge. We were a bit surprised that whilst renting a villa that houses up to eight people parking could be an issue. Our helicopter tour on Blue Hawaiian was a treat, and the fact that the helipad was five minutes up the road was a bonus! Hapuna Beach was a highlight of our vacation and one of the best beaches that we've ever seen. The support from the property manager, Julie, was incredible. She was responsible for many properties during our stay but she always made us feel that our concerns were paramount to her, and we had resolution to some small troubles quickly. Loved the Waikaloa Beach Villas, and recommend them to one and all planning a vacation on the Big Island
Elaine G., Pincourt, Quebec, 3.16.10
The unit was gorgeous--first class in every way. we loved the pool and beach area. Too few good nrestaurats nearby. We ate at Merriman's, and it was dreadful and expensive. Best restaurants--Jackie Rey's and Don The Beachcomber.
Ruth R., Saint Charles, Illinois, 3.7.10
Proximity to the surfing. There were eight of us and we had a grand time. The scariest part was the tsunami and evacuation. We had friends out of the way and they put us up as we sat spell bound in front of the TV. We love to cook, a few more kitchen utensils would be helpful, plus we normally leave our left over goods but doesn't seem to be the way there, so no unspoilables are available to help cook Growers market is most delightful and we bought as much as we could. We have stayed in vacation land before so we didn't do much sight seeing, but we recommend to all the falls, the volcano, the observatory and so on.
Bobbie R., White City, OR, 3.4.10
Lovely, clean, well stocked condominium. Very quiet and private, yet near many wonderful beaches. We made good use of the barbeque and deck to dine and watch the sunset. We would certainly love to stay at Mauna Lani again, should we return to the big island.
Mary B., Kentfield, CA, 2.20.10
Great house, with good beach access for a non-beachfront property. The sand beach is rare on the Big Island. The close access to town made it easy to plan our day. "Huggos on the Rocks" and "Jackie Reys" are great places to eay. The only negative was the pool was way too cold to swim. We went in January so the sun may warm it in the summer.
Chris W., Andover, KS, 1.31.10
