My husband and I had a wonderful 15 days at the Sunrise Suite. The room was clean, nice, and the views were awesome!! The owner gave us great advice on places to go and great restaurants. They were very accomodating to let us stay late on the last day since our flight did not leave until late that night.
We love Maui and I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to enjoy the real Hawaiian experience and get a great taste of the local culture.
Many thanks to Dennis!!

We go to Maui several times a year, and this is the best rental unit we have found so far! When you turn onto the main driveway, you can look down the hill, and a mile away, perched on the edge of a bluff in the midst of gorgeous landscaping, is a beautiful Balinese style house. It didn't occur to us that this gorgeous house would be where we would be spending the next week! Indeed, it was, and the inside was every bit as lovely as the outside. The owner was a very gracious host, and always accommodated our needs quickly. He teaches the guests to go around their own side of the house, so we never really saw the people staying in the other unit - they never passed our windows or patio, which was nice for privacy. The only thing I would warn about is if you like to take baths, there was no bathtub, but there was a large, beautiful shower. I truly felt like a guest in someone's beautiful, private home, rather than like I was staying in a rental unit. We will always try to stay here when we come back to Maui!

The unit was beautiful and the view unsurpassed. It was away from the tourist area and crowds so that you felt you had the place and area to yourself. The owner couldn't have been more helpful in giving information and recommendations. The highlight of the trip was watching the humpback whales right out front. In fact we could hear them communicating which we have never experienced The only downside was after a strong high pressure came in and the NE tradewinds were howling. It made it impossible to sit outside.

This place is so superb, it is difficult to describe (or believe). 50' from a cliff over the ocean, beautiful decor (many custom pieces including the 4 poster bed were imported from Bali), exquisite grounds and a private entrance drive over 1 mile long! And the owner and his wife are both delightful. If you are looking for a private or romantic retreat, you could not find a better place. There is no hotel on Maui with this kind of ambiance.

the moment we drove up the roundabout driveway and got our first view of the house, we knew we had picked the perfect place for our maui vacation! the house is much more gorgeous and spacious then the pictures show on the website. the view is phenomenal from the front deck, the saltwater pool is very large and the layout of both the house and the grounds is perfect for large or small familys or groups who want privacy. (i don't remember if this is part of the listing info, but the house is fully equiped with beach gear and a washer/dryer - which means you don't need to pack so much!) this is our 2nd trip to maui, the first to the Kulike house and i look forward to many more - i would highly recommend the kulike main house to anyone desiring an upcountry chic and yet very private home that's conveniently close to town. (don't forget a trip to Paia's Fish Market restaurant, on the corner of Hana Hwy & Baldwin - the best fish & chips and ono burger on the island)

The ten days we vacationed at Kulike were outstanding. The house and Haiku area was a perfect place for a family vaction. The upcountry area has great weather with great breezes, intermittant showers, plenty of sunshine and we experienced a beautiful double rainbow over morning coffee on the porch. We visited Wailea one morning and Kapalua on our last day. While beautiful and with great beaches, they were crowded and offered little privacy. We returned to the Kulike house, saying the privacy and beauty made this a great vacation spot. The house was inviting and comfortable. Our 18 month old had no trouble sleeping and loved swimming in the pool. My two oldest boys--20 and 16, both spent hours in the pool. The town of Pa'ia was a wonderful town to visit and do our daily food shopping. On one afternoon we were asked by a check-out clerk at Mana Foods, whether we lived in the area. A sure sign of being relaxed. The house had every convenience and made cooking a surprisingly relaxing end to the day. We also dined at Jaques in Pa'ia, Mama's Fish House near Ho'okipa beach and and Casanova Italian in Makawao. In addition to the above day trips we also ventured to Haleakala and to Hana. The best beach on the trip was the Hamoa beach, just south of the town of Hana. This was the greatest surprise on the road to Hana. The boys and I played tennis in the town of Makawao and golf at Pukalani...both nicely located. The only disappointment was a hiking trip we planned to Polipoli Park to visit the Redwood forest. Unfortunately, the unpaved road, leading into the park was closed due to storm or earthquake damage (never got a clear explanation). We ended up visiting the Ali'i Kula Lavender Garden just down the road, which salvaged the trip. The last thing to mention is when asked by folks, who lived in Maui, where we were staying, the general response was that the area of Haiku was where they went to relax. For all these reasons our family ranked this vacation, as one of our best. Brian and Teresa O'Sullivan Palos Verdes Estates, California

not only did we think this was the most fabulous house we had ever stayed in....we wanted to find the owners and buy it from them!...our trip was perfect and the house and cottage was perfectly suited to our family...we brought our 3 smaller children and our college daughter and our oldest daughter and her husband..... maui was and always is .... AWESOME.....now the children want to live there! everything thing was fine...the only small minor detail i would have them do at the house would be to put non-slip rubber stickers or something like that in the shower stall....it was VERY slippery... loved our trip and plan on coming back again!....MAHALO!

Superbe location with a breath taking view of the ocean. This is a little gem. The owners were friendly and were providing a lot of information on Maui's "Must see" !

The house/grounds was perfect for myself and my family. We had an excellent vacation and the Kulike Main house was a big part of that. Being able to cook meals at the house and swim in the pool provided oppertunities to spend time and money elsewhere on the island.

We wholeheartedly enjoyed our stay at Kulike Main House and Cottage. I would definitely book it again were I planning another trip to Maui. I will certainly recommend it to my friends and family. The house was so welcoming and relaxing to stay in. We enjoyed the pool immensely, also. The only thing we had reservations about was the BBQ--even after cleaning, it flamed up terribly--it looked like it could catch the whole house on fire and the porch was filled with dense smoke. And because of the design, the hair was burned off part of his forearm in lifting the lid on the grill (which also sticks). We would recommend replacing it with another type. WE COMPLETELY ENJOYED THE HOUSE! WONDERFUL!

THE HOUSE IS BEAUTIFUL AND IN A BEAUTIFUL SETTING. HOWEVER, IT RAINED MOST OF THE TIME. I BELIEVE THAT IS TYPICAL WEATHER ON THAT PART OF THE ISLAND...THAT IS WHY IT IS SO LUSH AND BEAUTIFUL. WE EXPECTED RAIN, BUT NOT THAT MUCH. WHEN THE SUN WAS OUT, THIS PLACE WAS SPECTACULAR, ESPECIALLY WITH THAT GREAT POOL. THANK YOU.

The Pililani Bamboo House is at the top of our list of all the places we have stayed. A pleasant surprise as we did not anticipate the lovely and impecably manacured grounds, the great pool and tennis courts or did we expect to be alone there for a week. We would recommend this property to anyone and intend to someday return. Thank you for a great stay! Joe & Sheri Rowe

From the moment we arrived we vowed to return to Hawaii and make the Pililani Main House our vacation destination. The Pililani Main House is truly a magnificent vacation home. The private pool, tennis court, sauna, hot tub, and beautiful, lush grounds surounding the house create a true island paradise.
