Welcome to Moloa'a Bay on the northeast shore of Kaua'i. This is a large, secluded, pristine white sand beach that lends itself to coastal hiking, snorkeling, body boarding, surfing, shelling, swimming and sunbathing.

The beach bay is nearly mile long. The name comes from molo a'a in the Hawaiian language which means "matted roots." Paper Mulberry trees (wauke) once grew so thickly that the roots were interwoven. The Moloa'a Stream meanders through the valley alongside Moloa'a road and empties near the north end of the beach, which is backed by high cliffs. Uphill from the bay is the Moloa?a State Forest Reserve.

The Villa: This impressive home consists of three bedrooms, three baths, and 3,289 sq. ft. of living space sitting on pristine 2.5 acres of white sand beach frontage area. Moloa'a Bay was the site location for the TV pilot of "Gilligan's Island." This is where the USS Minnow and its crew originally shipwrecked. This may be as close as you will come to living on Gilligan's Island. Here is everything you ever dreamed Kaua'i to be! A perfect crescent sand beach and turquoise waters. Mystical Moloa'a Bay is located on the Northeast side of Kaua'i. Truly "Off-The-Beaten-Path" giving one the sense of an exclusive and genuine experience of the REAL Hawai'i. Moloa'a Beach has the least amount of rain of any north shore Kaua'i beach. It's perfect for swimming, snorkeling, picnics, sunsets and being away from the crowds. Annual average rainfall is 25.

The home is fully air conditioned. A wrap-around deck provides 2nd floor views of the ocean and coastline along with dramatic mountain vistas. The well-manicured Estate grounds are verdantly planted with Hawaiian tropical flora. A thick hedge at the beach edge provides privacy and security. There is an outdoor shower near the beach access path.

The Cottage: At the south end of the property near the entrance is a detached separate 2nd story guest house consisting of 994 square feet of air-conditioned living area with 1 bedroom + den and loft/1 bath. On your return from the beach, shower off in the new outdoor lava rock hot & cold shower.
The cottage may be rented separately or along with the main home. The location is very private and cozy, exquisitely furnished, and fully appointed. There are ocean views from the cottage. Here you can experience the casual Hawaiian elegance that typifies the spirit of Kaua'i.

**No Weddings or Events Allowed at this Property**

(Be advised that ocean conditions can be unpredictable and unsuitable for swimming at times. Please use cautionary discretion when entering the ocean at any location on the island).
*These homes are located in a "Tsunami Evacuation Zone."*

As a guest of Moloa'a Bay Villa & Cottage and RE/MAX Kauai, you'll have access to Kaua'i's Premier Concierge Service, where we'll help you build your perfect vacation.

Reviews

  • Overall the Villa was a great venue for a peaceful family vacation. Cottage air conditioning was down the whole time with great discomfort to part of our family and broken elevator made egress hard for me. Agents were responsive and a big help thru-out. We're already thinking of coming again.

  • The area this house is in is NOT at all desirable. It is visually beautiful, but far from any points of interest, and the ocean is very rocky and active. The house itself is fine, though there is no TV in the living room and the TV in the master isn't hooked up correctly and therefore was inoperable. I wish we had not stayed here, and actually spent our last night in a hotel.

Comment by Owner/Manager:

The guest called me last Friday morning, 1/3/14 around 10:45 a.m. to say that she was leaving a day early and instead spend her last day at a hotel She said, "I am tired . . . the kids are wearing me out. I just want to relax." Brandy did not offer any other complaints. She did not tell me she was having TV issues nor did she report it during her stay. I wish she did. We are sending our maintenance guy there today to assess the TV in the master bedroom. Regarding her discontent with the conditions of the bay, we are in the winter season with typical high ocean swells and passing squalls creating rough ocean conditions. Our pictures do show and disclose the rocky shore line of Moloa'a's crescent shaped bay. Perhaps the guest was hoping to have a beach similar to Waikiki (?), but even they are having sand issues. Rocks and cement pilings are being exposed by the surf.
