Hapuna Golf Course

Description

Arnold Palmer Ed Seay design opened in 1992, is considered a hidden gem by many for its quality of golf at half the price of its sister course at the same resort. Teeing off at an elevation 700 feet above sea level ensures consistent mountain and ocean views through out the course, in addition to making for cooler playing conditions.

Highlights:  A lesser known course managed by the Prince Resorts Hawaii, it plays more inland then the Mauna Kea Course and at half the cost. The gain of elevation makes for superb views, and cooler play then being on the oceanfront.
Challenges: The course design features lots of bunkers, both mid-fairway and surrounding greens.
Holes/Yardage: 18-Par 72-6,534 Blue/6,029 Resort/5,067 Red
Price Range: $ 125 before 1pm/ $75 after 1pm
Location: Kamuela, North of Kona, Hawaii
Bonuses: On-site club rentals $55 , driving range, and practice greens.

Local's Tip:
The website for Hapuna has online course tips for the more difficult holes. There are also several golf packages online that feature multiple rounds between the Hapuna Course and Mauna Kea at a discount.
