About three miles offshore of Maui is Molokini Islet where you can see a diversity of marine life by scuba diving or snorkeling in the half-submerged volcanic crater.<br><br>Take a drive through Maui's scenic Upcountry region to visit charming, small towns and flower farms, and then continue on up to Haleakala National Park for amazing views of the volcano's summit crater and surrounding area with hiking trails through forested areas that are home to rare native birds. Another scenic drive is the twisting and winding road to "Heavenly Hana" town on the eastern tip of the island where you will see many waterfalls and breathtaking coastal vistas. Nearby is the palm-fringed crescent of beautiful Makena Beach. These waters are also one of the best places in Hawaii to see humpback whales passing by offshore during the winter months. On the eastern end of Maui near Hana is Waianapanapa State Park with striking coastal views amid the rugged lava rocks and blue water.
